Kindergarten and first grade students at Chestnut Grove Elementary school are visiting the STEAM Engine today.
They are:
1. Testing objects to see if they sink or float
2. Measuring fairy tale creatures feet to see which one is the largest
3. Building Mr. Potato Head algorithms
4. Making pictures using a variety of wooden shapes

The STEAM Engine enjoyed being at Banks-Caddell Elementary School - Decatur, Alabama last night for their science night! Students and parents had the opportunity to participate in many different science activities to learn about coding, magnets, and more!

The STEAM Engine had a great time at Elementary School Decatur, AL today! The Sphero Indis were a big hit! Thank you, Civil Air Patrol, for the donation of those robots!

Itโs been a while since I have updated this page!
Today I got to meet Sharon McDougle at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center! She is a retired spacesuit technician, and is passionate about engaging girls in STEM. I bought a copy of her book for the STEAM Engine, and cannot wait to read it to the students!
We have not had the best weather this winter, but are FULLY BOOKED between now and the end of the school year! ๐๐ป๐๐ป I cannot wait to get rollinโ!

We had a great day yesterday at our first school event of the year! Thank you, Walter Jackson Elementary, Decatur, Al, for letting us come!

This summer, the STEAM Engine also doubled as a book bus. We took the bus into 7 of our neighborhoods and passed out books to over 200 students. We loved seeing our families read, create, and build together! Thank you to everyone who made this a great success.

We are so excited about this event tonight, and cannot wait to read and create with our students!
ALL ABOARD: Throughout the month of July, our Decatur City Schools STEAM Engine will be rolling into neighborhoods and school parking lots to give away books! There will also be teachers present to read those books to students.
Students will have the opportunity to explore and create on the STEAM Engine. Don't miss our first stop on the tour this evening!

Benjamin Davis Elementary-Decatur, Al students were all smiles on the bus yesterday and today! This school event was the last full day school event of the year! Donโt worry, we have exciting things planned for this summer! Stay tuned!

Today was the perfect night for math night at Frances Nungester Elementary School. Parents and students participated in math activities in the school, and on the STEAM Engine!

Third grade students at Leon Sheffield Magnet School- Decatur, Alabama enjoyed solving clues to fix the spaceship and return home. They explored the Mars Rover using augmented reality, coded a space rover, built a space shuttle, and more!
