This Labor Day, GROWTH Homes Managing Director Ed Gorman shared something with the team that we thought was worth sharing a little more broadly.

"As I think about Labor Day this year, I think about American history in the latter half of the 19th century and the forces that were in play for workers seeking better lives for themselves and their families.

Remarkably, they organized themselves into potent economic forces. Craft and industrial guilds willing to stand up against well-armed employer militias because they believed their collective well-being was worth fighting for.

We think of that period as some grainy black-and-white footage that disappears into the haze of our fractured attention spans. But many of your forebears were on one side or the other of that tension. This weekend, take a moment to think about the people whose shoulders you're standing on.

Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894 under Grover Cleveland, largely as a political gesture toward labor activism that had otherwise been suppressed during his term. There was even debate within the labor movement about whether to recognize it at all.

Today, Labor Day is more a signal of the end of summer than a celebration of the working class whose sacrifices built the American middle class. But the things we take for granted aren't appreciated until they're lost.

Our past matters. Let's not lose it."

Happy Labor Day from all of us at GROWTH Homes!

"Starter home" and "a million dollars" are showing up in the same sentence in 242 US cities now. Metro Atlanta has one city on that list, and prices across the region keep climbing.

The good news for buyers: the markets that added new homes are the ones keeping prices in reach. That's the work we're focused on here, building new construction in Atlanta neighborhoods where families want to put down roots.

A first home in metro Atlanta is still within reach. Let's talk about how.

The American dream: 250 years of homeownership 07/04/2026

Happy 4th of July, and happy 250th birthday, America! Atlanta is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, and on a day about opportunity and independence, we're thinking about what it takes to make sure that growth includes everyone, not just those who got here first.

This article looks back at 250 years of the policies and programs that opened the door to homeownership for more Americans. Worth a read this weekend as we think about what comes next for our own neighbors here.

The American dream: 250 years of homeownership The American experiment has proven, among other things, that ownership creates opportunity.

We love seeing this happen. πŸ™Œ

A family just went under contract on a 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath home at Highlands of Decatur, complete with an unfinished basement, open-concept layout, and designer finishes throughout. It moved fast, and that tells you everything you need to know about this community.

If you have been eyeing Highlands of Decatur, now is the time to come take a look at what we still have available!
