Late last night, the results of the Montgomery County Democratic Party race for Dayton Precinct 1-E were released. Unfortunately, the outcome was not what we had hoped for.

Throughout this campaign, I offered a vision for a local Democratic Party built on respect, empowerment, and inclusion. I advocated for a culture that emphasizes our common purpose and shared values over the distractions of in-fighting. I continue to believe deeply in these principles—they remain the best course of action for the growth and success of our party, and I will remain a steadfast advocate for them.

In this election, the voters of South Park chose a different path, and (as a believer in the democratic process), I fully respect that decision. I wish my neighbor, David Esrati, success as he serves the interests of our neighborhood and our local party.

While our approaches to the challenges we face are radically different, we share an undeniable commitment to improving our neighborhood and our community. It is my sincere hope that by reassuming this position of responsibility on the Central Committee, David will work to build coalitions united in the common purpose of resisting Donald Trump and his enablers at every level of government, while promoting our shared Democratic values. The stakes are too high for grudges and score-settling.

To everyone who voted for me, supported our campaign, and offered kind words and encouragement: thank you. I deeply appreciate your help, your energy, and your friendship. Our work for a more inclusive and focused party doesn't end here.

Thank you.
