About a year ago I was thinking I wanted to help women that were victims of violence. I thought how brave it was to escape and find a safe place. Many didn't have a chance to take anything with them. I remembered how happy my mommy was when she got a new purse and I talked about it with my mamaws and prayed about it. Next thing I knew I had purses new and used and then bought a list of things to s
tuff them. I asked my best friend Taylor if she wanted to help and God blessed us. Her church donated things and cash, my great mamaw got more purses and stuffers and off we went. Olivia and Taylor's Lovely Little Purses brought big smiles to many women. The coordinator was so please we brought them. We were not allowed to meet anyone because of privacy. We understood that. Since the first drop I thought what else could I do to help my community. I had mamaw call Dayton Children's Hospital to see if I could read to the sick children. Izzy said nope but....you can make get well cards with no glitter or latex, and you can have a crayon and coloring book drive. Once again both mamaws started gathering crayons and books and I made 50 cards the first day. Lots of stickers, lots of happy colors, and made with love. One more project I'm wanting to do because its close to my heart. The children that are removed by children services are scared and full of confusion . Many just want a hug and know that they are going to be alright. So, I called my caseworker and told her I wanted to put together little back packs with a small stuffed animal or blanket, crayons and coloring books and a free ice cream cone from McDonald's. I want these back packs to be given when a child is removed. I want them to know God loves them and each child is getting a hug of love. Maybe when I grow up and become a Dr., with God's guidance I will be a Dr Without Borders. Remember to stay humble and stay kind. Hugs. :)
