Developing Butterflies Big Sister Program is growing, and we are looking for committed volunteer support to help with day to day programming, operations outside of our Thursday mentoring sessions and board of directors.

This is a volunteer opportunity for individuals who are organized, dependable, and passionate about supporting teen girls and community that can help with running program smoothly through structure, consistency and community.

We are looking for dependable individuals to support roles such as:

🦋 Program Finance Support

🦋 Event & Activity Coordinator

🦋 Academic Support

🦋 Volunteer Coordinator

🦋 Parent Support/ Liaison

Friday, February 13th, Developing Butterflies Big Sister Program and our Founder Gena McDonald was recognized at the Sinclair Community College, 24th Annual NIA Award as the 2026 Community Service Recipient Award. Thank you Sinclair, Mr. Jack Bennett, and the NIA Committee.

Super Bowl LX (60), the beautiful and iconic, Coco Jones, sung The Black National Anthem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing" alongside an all Black female violinist group. Wearing a cute white dress with the accent colors red, black, and green paying respect to the late Great Whitney Houston and honoring the Pan-African flag, representing Black Liberation created by Marcus Garvey in 1920.

What a way to show up, use her platform and make a statement with her beauty and voice.

It's Developing Butterflies, Thursday!!!

Today Big Sister A, facilitated a conversation and activity identifying our "Values". We identified our values and after identifying them we created a bracelet of our values.

Tonight was something truly special! Tonight represented a 7 year milestone for our Founder, Gena McDonald and she was excited to share this day with her Sisters because it reminded her of her purpose.

The number 7 in the Bible represents, Completion and Divine Fulfillment and tonight was just that!
