A healthy fish starts with a healthy environment. When putting together your freshwater aquarium, using natural materials like soil, sand, gravel, leaf litter, and live plants will promote a healthy microorganism population. These microorganisms are vital to a thriving ecosystem. Not only do they help break down organic waste materials but they provide a natural live food source for the fish. Fish do better in a tank with lots of microfauna and microfauna do better in a tank made up of natural materials. Check out our website to purchase live fish foods and microfauna cultures.
