October 9th, from 9 am - 2:30 pm, the Center for Loss and Hope is honored to be partnering with Hearts Landing to host a retreat for survivors of sudden and traumatic loss.

This 1-day retreat in Granite Bay, is designed to strengthen the bonds of our community and with nature. Participants are invited in a guided Morning Altars™ practice and through a restorative Qi Gong session. Each participant will benefit from an Equine-Assisted Therapy Session with Hearts Landing Equine Therapists.

Equine Therapy does not include riding horses but being with horses to work with some of our trauma of having survived the Sudden and Traumatic Loss of a loved one. Due to the nature of this retreat, a Liability Waiver will need to be signed before attending. Event will be held outdoors. Some accommodation for heat and/or rain will be addressed. Please dress appropriately.

We spent the day serving ice cream to their residents and helping everyone cool off on a hot Sacramento day.

Our program Moving with Grief is being offered in West Sacramento!

Grief is felt in the mind and body. Movement can help us tap into the wisdom of the body and release the grief that can be held there. Join us for a FREE COMMUNITY program designed to guide participants emotionally and physically with grief.

All fitness levels are welcome, please dress appropriately for movement. This program is offered to anyone in the community.

So pleased to have Kim Tucker join the YoloCares Board of Directors. I have known, and worked with, Kim for my entire 12 years in California. Kim is the Chief Executive Officer of Mission Forward Advisors https://www.missionforwardadvisors.com/ and the former Executive Director of the Impact Foundry. She has also served as Senior Vice President for the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce and as Senior Strategist at 3fold Communications. From foster care to public radio, Kim has helped nonprofits develop programs, attract funding, and expand the delivery of their mission. In 2024, Kim was named a Most Admired CEO in the nonprofit category by the Sacramento Business Journal. Her relationship with YoloCares is both professional and personal . . . we took care of her mom a few years ago and she saw firsthand what a difference a caring competent team can make in the life of a patient and their family . . . when it matters most.

Crazy proud of YoloCares’ Director for the Center for Loss & Hope (Chris Erdman, PhD, MDiv) for being the brainchild and organizer behind our first GriefBall . . . an innovative two-day camp co-led by the Sacramento Kings and funded by Sutter Health. It’s designed to address mental health challenges and unresolved grief in boys and young men, who are less likely to seek traditional support after a significant loss. We use basketball, movement, and teamwork led by Jr. Kings coaches and grief specialists as a comfortable pathway to emotional healing and connection.
