As the heart of the Davis community, the downtown is a wonderful destination that is powered by unique businesses and by you! It's cycle-centric, supports an active lifestyle and has direct links to UC Davis, the arboretum and train station. Ask anyone what makes Davis special, and you will certainly hear, “It’s about the people.” This is particularly relevant to our downtown, as the personal shopping experience is something not typically found in big box stores. Downtown Davis is powered by the people—shop, café and business owners, employees, students, families and visitors. The Davis Downtown Business Association (DDBA) is a steward of the downtown. Our team's energies and funds go toward programs that benefit our businesses directly and also indirectly through events, initiatives and improvements toward our downtown environment and aesthetics. Happy National Coffee Day, Davis! ☕
Coffee has been bringing people together for centuries, with its origins traced to Ethiopia and coffeehouse culture spreading around the world over hundreds of years. And Davis actually has a pretty incredible connection to that history. UC Davis has been home to the student run Coffee House since 1968 and today is home to the UC Davis Coffee Center, the first multidisciplinary university research center in the country dedicated to coffee.
So we'd say Davis has earned an extra cup today. ☕💛
And Downtown Davis has plenty of ways to turn National Coffee Day into a full side quest. Here are a few itineraries:
The Coffee Crawl: Grab your first cup downtown, walk a few blocks, browse a local shop, then find somewhere completely different for round two.
The Study Day: Coffee, a pastry, your laptop or a book, and a cozy spot to settle in for a while. When you need a break, take a walk around downtown and grab lunch nearby.
The Friend Date: Meet for coffee, wander through a few shops, grab lunch, then finish with another coffee or sweet treat. Nobody said National Coffee Day had to involve only one cup.
The Downtown Morning: Start with coffee, walk through Central Park, explore some public art, pop into a business you've never visited, and see where the morning takes you.
Coffee shops have long been gathering places, and that's still a big part of what makes grabbing a cup downtown so special. Meet a friend, support a local business, try somewhere new, and celebrate National Coffee Day in Downtown Davis. ☕💛

We're looking for volunteers to become Downtown Davis Ambassadors and help make downtown a welcoming, vibrant, and safe place for everyone.
As an Ambassador, you'll welcome visitors and local businesses, help people discover shops, restaurants, events, and attractions, provide an extra set of eyes and ears around downtown, and represent Downtown Davis at community events.
The best part? Shifts are only 2 to 3 hours. A small commitment can make a meaningful impact on the downtown community you already know and love.

Happy first day of fall, Davis! 🍂💛
The season is changing, students are back, and Downtown Davis is ready for one of our favorite times of the year.
Cooler mornings mean coffee runs before class. Comfortable afternoons are perfect for wandering through local shops. And those fall evenings are practically made for dinner downtown, drinks with friends, date nights, and taking the long way back to the car.
With plenty happening around downtown this season, there's always a reason to come back and experience something new.
Grab a coffee, bring a friend, support a local business, and spend the first day of fall in Downtown Davis. 🍁

Dive Into Downtown 2026 was a huge success, and we loved seeing so many new and transfer UC Davis students exploring Downtown Davis, meeting local businesses, trying new places, and starting to find their favorites around town.
A huge thank you to everyone who came out and made downtown part of their orientation experience. We also want to thank all of the Downtown Davis businesses that participated, offered deals, welcomed students through their doors, and helped introduce our newest community members to everything downtown has to offer.
