Pence Gallery

If you are a visual artist and have never participated in our annual Art Auction exhibit, we are inviting new artists to submit images of three possible artworks to be juried into our Art Auction. Interested artists may apply by July 5 at bit.ly/penceauctionapp (free to apply).

This exhibit represents the work of over 100 outstanding local & regional artists, who contribute paintings, photography, ceramics, textiles, sculpture, mixed media work, and more, on display at the gallery for preview and online for silent auction bidding from September 5-26 on our Art Auction website.

Requirements:
- Apply by July 5 at bit.ly/penceauctionapp (free)
- Must be new to participating in our Art Auction
- May submit up to 3 artworks for consideration
- Artwork must be at least 6" in size, no larger than 36" wide for 2D work (including frame)
- Retail value of $175+
- Completed within the past 5 years
- Framed/ready to install by August 23
- Artists may request 0-40% back of proceeds

Artists will be notified of their acceptance by July 8. Art Auction is our major fundraiser for the year, providing support for our exhibits and education programs. Thank you!

Register today to grab a spot in our upcoming Beginning Charcoal Drawing class on June 27. In this one-day workshop with Sophie Jorcino, you will learn value shading, texture techniques, and sketching exercises, all while learning to use different charcoal materials that are included with the class fee. This workshop is open to everyone ages 16 and up—no art experience required.

We are looking forward to our pop-up Night Market during the 2nd Friday ArtAbout this Friday from 6-9 PM. This is a fun opportunity for young visual artists to experience showcasing their work in a gallery space, and we encourage the community to come out and support the artists. They will be handling their own sales and keep all proceeds!

Art in Action is this Sunday from 1-3 PM! Don't miss this month's fun family art workshop.

Create beautiful blue sun prints of plants and flowers for Art in Action this Sunday! Using special blue photo paper, the sun’s rays, and some water, create amazing prints (known as cyanotypes) of leaves, flower petals, and more. Transform these prints into one-of-a-kind collages through cutting, layering, and adding natural materials and other found objects.

How it works:
Art in Action engages kids in art projects that are fun, creative, and collaborative with their family members. This is a drop-in program for ages 5-12. No registration in advance is required, but space and supplies are limited to the first 25 participants and are available on a first come, first served basis.

When you arrive, pay with cash or card at the front desk. A parent or adult caregiver is required to stay, but only has to pay for the project for themselves if they are also doing art. Stay as long or as short as you like over the two hour period.

Misuk Goltz's next watercolor class is beginning on June 23—register now! In this 6-week course, artist Misuk will guide you through essential watercolor techniques to help you paint your favorite subjects more expressively. Sessions will cover choosing inspiring subjects and methods for creating colors, textures, and values to elevate your art. Each class includes a critique of participants' completed work, live demonstrations, and extended individual guidance. Please note that this class is intended for participants who already have some watercolor painting experience.
