It’s all aboard for commencement!

Five student speakers will share their hearts and journeys with the thousands of fellow graduates and guests at the undergraduate commencements of University of California, Davis, at Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center Friday through Sunday (June 12-14).

9 a.m. Friday: Araceli Chavez Rodriguez of Caruthers, California

2:30 p.m. Friday: Youssef Yassin of Irvine, California

9 a.m. Saturday: Diyansha Magesh of Hyderabad, India

2:30 p.m. Saturday: Atmaja Patil of San Jose, California

9 a.m. Sunday: Brody Andrews of San Francisco

College Track, a national nonprofit dedicated to ensuring all students have the opportunity to earn a college degree, announced a formal partnership with UC Davis. The partnership marks a significant milestone in College Track's expanding network of college and university partnerships, deepening its commitment to opening doors to higher education for under-resourced students.

At the heart of the partnership is a common conviction: that access to higher education should not be determined by circumstance. Both College Track and UC Davis have long invested in programs and structures that support first-generation and under-resourced students, and this partnership is an expression of that shared mission.

Fifty years ago, a group of UC Davis alumni and students envisioned a new way to buy local, healthy food and founded the Davis Farmers Market. They helped change state regulations around direct selling by farmers and made the Davis market a model for markets throughout the state.

They will celebrate the milestone on Aug. 1 with a special program at the market and new cookbook by market co-founder Ann M. Evans ’75 and Geogeanne Brennan.

The faculty members selected to speak at the baccalaureate commencements this June have made important contributions to undergraduate teaching and learning over a total of about 120 years on campus. Collectively, their recognitions include everything from on-campus honors to a U.S. presidential award.
