As a first-generation college student and non-native English speaker, Diep Nguyen faced obstacles on her path to medical school. From two med school rejections to Duke University’s Physician Assistant Program, Hunter Aliotti’s journey is a powerful reminder that the right path is not always the one you start on.

After struggling with the MCAT and facing setbacks, Hunter worked with UC Davis Health Professions Post-Bac Program advisor Bryelle McRay, M.Ed. to reconsider what providing accessible healthcare could look like. The answer? He didn't need to be an MD to make the impact he wanted.

With 11,000+ hours of patient care experience, an EMT license, and a renewed sense of purpose, Hunter found his calling as a future PA, a path that offers the flexibility to serve underserved communities across multiple specialties.
