Sweet Home Animal Rescue

👋 Hi, I’m Fern!

Fern is 5 months old & weighs 22lbs. She is a poodle mix of some sort.

She enjoys water, other dogs, & treats. Fern is a little shy when she meets new people but it doesn’t take long for her to become her playful self.

Fern has been fostered with other dogs.

Why we don’t answer every question about an animal on our socials…

The truth is we want to know more about YOU which is why we want an application submitted.

It’s easy to see a post, act interested, & then disappear. When you submit an application, we now know you are truly interested in adopting. This also gives us an idea of your lifestyle which helps us better gauge if an animal is the right fit.

Behind a cute picture is a life depending on us to keep their best interest at the forefront of what we do.

31,536,000 SECONDS OF SCARLETT 🐾🤎

One year ago today, we pulled Scarlett from the shelter. She was part of a severe cruelty case. She was completely shut down, emaciated, and barely able to stand.
At 40 pounds, she was a ghost of a dog. To put that in perspective, the skeleton and vital organs of a healthy German Shepherd weigh around 19 pounds. Scarlett was essentially surviving on a baseline of bones and organs, with almost nothing else left to keep her alive.
Her X-rays showed a failing spine, severe colon issues, tumors, and pellet fragments still lodged in her heart from being shot. On top of everything, we were told she had cancer. We honestly thought we would be lucky to have her long enough just to show her love, safety, and comfort before she passed.
Instead, she chose to live.

Today, Scarlett is a walking miracle, an 88 pound powerhouse (who is now officially on a diet!). Because of her complex medical needs, she is staying right here with us forever as Sweet Homes only fospice dog.

We have loved and protected her for:
🗓️ 1 Year | 52 Weeks | 365 Days
⏱️ 8,760 Hours | 525,600 Minutes | 31,536,000 Seconds

Every single one of those seconds has been an absolute gift. Happy rescue anniversary, sweet girl!

Donations to our rescue don't just fund the dogs who get adopted. They also allow us to completely provide for a fospice dog like Scarlett, whose medical care and daily needs we have covered for an entire year, and will continue to cover for life. Thank you to everyone who makes her miracle possible. ❤️
