McKinsey surveyed thousands of businesses in 2026 to find out where AI actually delivered. The results are more honest than most AI headlines.
Marketing and sales teams grew revenue. Supply chain and service operations cut costs. 8 in 10 employees said AI made them more productive.
But only 37% saw any bottom-line impact. And only 6% are seeing returns significant enough to show up in their financials.
The difference between the 6% and everyone else is not the tool. It is how they deployed it.
