The highlight of recruit class week 7, was the completion of ISAR (Interior Search and Rescue). The recruits successfully completed this class, learning even more search and rescue techniques to better serve and protect our citizens.

A special thank you to all of our instructors, who dedicate a lot of their time assisting with the recruits.

Week 8 will begin with 12 Paulding recruits and 1 Haralson recruit. Keep up the solid work.

Week 6 of recruit school is over, today starts week 7.

Last week, we were able to put our new Bullard thermal imagers to the test, showing the recruits the benefits of a very important tool. We also completed the “5 hose” evolution, where students must work on air consumption and staying oriented.

Week 7 began with 13 Paulding recruits and 1 Haralson recruit.

Today was spent honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice, 25 years ago.

We started our day with a 3.43 mile run, followed by a beautiful 9/11 ceremony.

Throughout the day, many members went to Crunch Fitness - Hiram, and participated in the memorial stair climb, while a couple of our personnel also attended the Stone Mountain climb.

We will never forget!

Please join us in congratulating Lieutenant Daniel Norton on his extraordinary performance at the World Police & Fire Games, where he earned both a gold and bronze medal in jiu-jitsu while representing Paulding County on the international stage.

Competing against elite public-safety athletes from around the world, Lt. Norton demonstrated tremendous strength, discipline and determination. His accomplishments have made Paulding County Fire & Rescue—and our entire community—incredibly proud.

Lt. Norton was honored with an official State Senate resolution, as well as a letter from Governor Brian Kemp recognizing his outstanding achievement, professionalism and service.

We sincerely thank Senate Leader Jason Anavitarte for attending in person and presenting the Senate resolution. We also thank Governor Kemp and the Paulding County Board of Commissioners for recognizing Lt. Norton and helping us celebrate this historic accomplishment.

Congratulations to Sergeant Turner Edwards, recipient of the Paulding County Chamber of Commerce - Georgia’s 2026 Firefighter of the Year Award!

Since joining Paulding County Fire & Rescue in March 2022, Sgt. Edwards has distinguished himself through his character, professionalism and dedication to service. A trusted leader at Station 2, he is known for remaining calm under pressure, taking initiative and encouraging those around him. He is the kind of firefighter and officer everyone wants on their crew.

Sgt. Edwards is also deeply committed to professional growth. During the past year, he completed eight advanced fire service courses in areas including technical rescue, incident command, fire investigation and aerial apparatus operations—many on his own time. He is also pursuing opportunities to serve on PCFR’s Medical Operations Team and continue his development through the Fire Officer series.

Beyond the fire service, Sgt. Edwards is a devoted husband, father, man of faith and friend who consistently treats others with kindness and respect.

Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Turner Edwards on this well-deserved honor. We are proud to have him serving Paulding County!

Paulding County Fire units respond to single-engine plane crash, September 3rd 2026, 8:07pm:

C-Shift: Engine 12, Engine 7, Engine 1, Squad 1, Rescue 4, Battalion 1 & 2, 3410 and Air & Light filled our response, along with multiple Paulding County Sheriff’s Office deputies and multiple MetroAtlanta ambulances.

The occupants of the plane were able to call 911 and our friends at Paulding County E-9-1-1 Communications Center did an excellent job of helping us locate them quickly.

Our units were rapidly searching the reported area within a few minutes of dispatch. Contact was first made at the wreckage around 12 minutes after initial dispatch. The plane was located deep in the woods, just east of our local airport.

All of our units and public safety partners began to convene at this location.

We want to commend all of our units, who worked very hard to remove the victims from the plane, while treating their wounds and carrying them through unsteady terrain to awaiting ambulances.

In approximately 38 minutes after initial dispatch, both occupants were transported to a local area hospital with serious injures.

Multiple agencies are working together to continue this investigation and more information will be released as soon as it is available. Great work to all and our thoughts and prayers are with those affected.
