Three Arrows Design

I was able to get the gourd rattle finished up today. This was made using a small birdhouse gourd I grew last year with Goncalo Alves wood as the handle and pin and glass beads as the rattle medium.

Like I said,I really don't need another rattle but they are fun to make and I have SO many gourds so why not? I will just add it to the others I have made in my percussion collection. 🫣

Time to turn these large gourds I grew last year into birdhouses.

I am also going to make another gourd rattle (yeah, I know...like I need another one of those 🙄) out of this smaller gourd and a piece of Goncalo Alves wood.

I was able to get the Figured Maple and Lignum Vitae Churchwarden pipe pretty much completed. Well, I still need to put a finish on it but other than that it is basically done.

It was a complete pain in the butt because of the multiple piece long stem which had to be fitted together in two places with metal connecter rods but in the end I feel like it turned out pretty good for my first pipe ever.

Now to het the Figured Walnut Pipe completed......

I am still working on the figured maple Churchwarden pipe (it's been a nightmare) but I am already starting the second one. This will be a shorter stemmed pipe made with figured "crotch" Walnut and will have a deer antler tipped mouthpiece.

I've been so busy the last week that I haven't had a lot of time to work on the Church warden style pipe that I was making. I had a little time to rough shape it out yesterday.

I still have a lot of work to do but it's looking good so far. This is my first time trying my hand at making a pipe and it has not gone smoothly BUT I am not going to give up quite yet! I am using two different kinds of curly maple, as well as accent stripes Lignum vitae.
