🚨 VERDICT REACHED 🚨
A Collin County jury has found 19-year-old Karmelo Anthony guilty of murder in the death of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf.
The case stems from a confrontation at a Frisco ISD track meet in April 2025 that ended with Metcalf being fatally stabbed.
Throughout the trial, Anthony’s defense team argued he acted in self-defense and out of fear. Prosecutors argued the stabbing was unjustified and presented witness testimony, surveillance video, and other evidence to support their case.
The trial has drawn national attention and sparked conversations about self-defense, race, and the justice system. Emotions have remained high both inside and outside the courtroom, where supporters of both families have gathered throughout the proceedings.
Jurors ultimately rejected the self-defense claim and returned a guilty verdict.
The case now moves to the sentencing phase, where Anthony’s punishment will be determined.

Anthony’s defense argued he acted in self-defense, but an all-white jury ultimately returned a guilty verdict after a week-long trial. The case now moves into the sentencing phase, where jurors will hear additional evidence before deciding Anthony’s punishment.
