Some expenses earn their place because they help us do our work better.
For us, that includes getting on a plane when face-to-face time matters, investing in technology that keeps our team organized, and using tools that support our financial planning process.
We also value anything that gives our advisors more time to focus on the person sitting across from them. That’s one reason an AI notetaker made the list. Less time documenting a conversation afterward can mean more attention during the conversation itself.
And yes, we believe good marketing is worth paying for too. Having a strategist who understands what ELS stands for helps us communicate with you in ways that actually feel like us.
Those are five of ours. What’s something you’ll gladly spend more on because you know the value it brings?

Today, we’re celebrating Mario!
Mario brings his experience and perspective to our team, but we also appreciate the person behind the work: a devoted father, colleague and someone who continues to invest in the people around him.
From serving our clients to representing ELS Vision in rooms across the industry, we’re grateful to have Mario as part of this team and part of the continued growth of our firm.
Help us wish Mario a very happy birthday and a great year ahead!

Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation Awards Gala for the first time.
The Guide Right Foundation of Dallas, an organization I’m proud to support, received an Honorable Mention this year, and my Broker/Dealer, Osaic, invited me to join their table for the evening.
I have to say, I left amazed, inspired, and reminded of how much I love our industry and what it can represent.
The financial advisors I admire most have a real passion for the clients they serve. What I saw Thursday night was how often that commitment to service extends well beyond their clients and into their communities.
I heard about advisors supporting organizations that deliver meals to elderly individuals, sometimes becoming the only person outside of their home they will see that day. One advisor, born with a unique medical condition, now uses his experience to serve as a resource for others diagnosed with the same condition.
Another story hit especially close to home for me. An advisor supports an organization helping adults with special needs move toward greater independence by connecting them with adults willing to live alongside them in a safe, supportive environment. As someone who cares deeply about agency, independence, and self-determination for adults with special needs, that one stayed with me.
It reminded me that the impact we can have as financial professionals extends far beyond the assets we manage.
I was also excited to learn that Invest in Others is partnering with the Association of African-American Financial Advisors (Quad-A) to help its grants and resources reach organizations serving communities across the country. That matters. ❤️
So, cheers to Invest in Others Charitable Foundation , the advisors recognized Thursday night, and the financial professionals doing meaningful work in their communities without an award or a spotlight.
Our profession is about helping people build wealth, but Thursday night reminded us what can happen when we also use our success, resources, time, and influence to invest in other people.
Celebrating 25 years of QUAD-A made this year’s Vision Conference especially meaningful. ❤️
We spent the weekend reconnecting with people we’ve come to know over the years, making new connections, and hearing perspectives that gave us plenty to think about as financial professionals.
From conversations around AI and estate planning to storytelling and the Great Wealth Shift, there was no shortage of ideas to bring back to the work we do every day.
Our own story is also a reminder of what can come from the relationships built in this community. We first connected through a QUAD-A event, which eventually led to Caira joining ELS Vision Wealth Management as Director of Financial Planning.
Caira: “Every time I attend, I leave feeling full of new ideas and fresh perspectives! I’m grateful for the relationships I’ve built over the years and excited about the new connections that were made this weekend.”
Lawrence: “Being able to share my experiences while continuing to learn from others is something I never want to stop doing. My commitment to QUAD-A is absolute, and it will continue throughout my career.”
Congratulations to the Association of African American Financial Advisors on 25 years. We’re looking forward to what 2027 will bring. 🎉

Client relations is one of those roles people underestimate until they experience it done well. It's not just answering the phone or scheduling a meeting. It's remembering the small things. Knowing when someone needs a little more explanation and when they just need the process to feel easy.
Keley Williams has spent the last two years doing exactly that for ELS Vision Wealth Management clients.
She's often the first person a client talks to, and the way that first conversation goes can set the tone for the entire relationship. Keley treats that responsibility seriously, and it shows in how our clients talk about their experience with the firm.
Two years in, and the impact is clear. Happy Anniversary, Keley Williams! 🎉

Student loan rules changed on July 1, 2026, and the shift is bigger than a rate adjustment. Grad PLUS loans are gone for new borrowers, annual and lifetime borrowing caps replaced a more flexible structure, and repayment plans like SAVE and PAYE are being phased out in favor of two new options.
For a parent still contributing to a student's education, or a graduate student weighing options for the fall, these changes affect the math in ways that are easy to miss when planning around what used to be true. A borrowing limit that didn't exist last year changes how a family sequences tuition payments across four years. A repayment plan being phased out changes what a monthly budget looks like five years from now, not just this semester.
We broke down what's different this year and what it means depending on where you are in the process.

A business owner spends years thinking about growth. Revenue, hiring, the next contract, the next location. What gets less attention is what happens to all of it if that owner is suddenly out of the picture.
An operating plan answers how the business runs day to day. It doesn't answer who takes over the accounts if the owner has a health event, what happens to key relationships if there's no successor named, or how the business gets valued and transferred if the goal is eventually to sell.
For many first-generation business owners, the business is the largest asset they have. Protecting it means thinking through the exit as seriously as the growth.

Five terms in this carousel come up in almost every conversation we have with business owners who've crossed into a different income bracket, and it's rarely because someone brought them up first.
A buy-sell agreement sits unused until a partner passes away or wants out. By then, the terms of who does what should already be decided. Disability insurance gets skipped because life insurance feels like the obvious priority, until someone can't work for two years and finds out their income doesn't pause.
And treating the business itself as the retirement plan is common enough that it's worth asking directly: is your wealth sitting anywhere outside the company?

Success may get you into the room. Character determines whether I want to stay.
Over the last few months, I've been in rooms with some incredibly successful people.
Some of those conversations inspired me. I walked away grateful, encouraged, and genuinely impressed by what colleagues and associates are building.
Others taught me a different lesson.
I've realized I would rather share a room with good, successful people I respect, people who respect me and the values I stand for, than spend my time chasing access to people who don't.
At this stage of my life, I'm learning to value character over clout, mutual respect over access, and real relationships over impressive rooms.
Not every room you can get into is a room you need to stay in.
I'm curious how others think about this. Has there ever been a room, a deal, or an opportunity you walked away from because it didn't align with who you are? What made you decide it wasn't worth staying for?
