Around the world today, musicians take to the streets to celebrate the joy of music. And here in our schools, music programs are a vital part of every child's education.
But here's a tough reality: music programs are often the first to face budget cuts. New instruments, uniforms, sheet music, and travel for competitions can cost thousands of dollars that schools simply can't fund on their own.
That's where booster clubs and PTOs step in — and a music-themed fundraiser is the perfect fit:

• Host a talent show or battle of the bands (charge admission!)
• Organize a "Practice-A-Thon" where students collect pledges for minutes practiced
• Sell commemorative programs at the spring concert
• Put on a community concert and sell food and beverages

Music enriches our kids. Let's make sure they have what they need to keep playing.

Happy National Ice Cream Soda Day!
Hot take: an ice cream social is one of the most underrated school fundraisers out there.
Here's how to turn a sweet treat into serious funds for your organization:

• Partner with a local ice cream shop or supplier for a portion of sales
• Host a root beer float bar at a back-to-school night or fall athletic event (charge per float!)
• Sell "upgrade" tickets — sprinkles, toppings, specialty flavors
• Make it a competition: whose sundae creation wins the school vote?

Fun stat: According to the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA), the ice cream industry has an $11.6 billion impact on the U.S. economy, and the average American eats roughly 19 pounds of ice cream every year. (Source: IDFA )
Families WILL show up for this.
Whether it's a summer social or a fall kick-off, a frozen treat event creates memories AND revenue.

Looking for a unique fall fundraiser that families will actually get excited about? Consider a Drive-In Movie Night on your school's parking lot or athletic field!
Here's why it works:
• It's a community event, not just a school event.
• Easy add-on sales: popcorn, candy, hot cocoa
• Tickets are easy to sell in advance
• Low overhead = higher profit margin
• Perfect for a cool fall Friday night
• All you need is a projector, a white sheet or inflatable screen, and a little organization magic.
Pro tip: Pair it with your candy fundraiser for double the fun — and double the revenue!

June is National Perennial Gardening Month — and it's the perfect inspiration for one of our favorite fundraiser ideas: a plant and flower sale!
Here's what makes a plant sale a great fundraiser for any parent organization:
• Low startup cost — partner with a local nursery or greenhouse for donated or consigned plants
• Appeals to a wide audience — parents, grandparents, neighbors, teachers
• Perfect for a fall plant swap event or a spring sale leading up to Mother's Day
• Eco-friendly and community-minded
• Bonus: Perennials come BACK every year — just like your fundraising goals.
You can also expand this concept into a seed packet sale, a garden basket raffle, or a community garden day where families pay to participate.

We hear it all the time: "We're just a small parent group — we don't really need insurance, do we?"
Here are some facts that might change your mind:
Many PTOs, PTAs, and booster clubs assume that because they are nonprofits, they don't need insurance. That assumption can be costly.
If a child is injured at your carnival, a parent slips at your fundraiser, or a guest's car is damaged— who pays?
Without general liability coverage, your organization's hard-earned funds are on the line to cover the costs.
General liability coverage is more affordable than you think — far less than the cost of one unexpected incident.
At AIM Insurance, we've helped hundreds of parent organizations, booster clubs, and PTAs get the right coverage for the right price.

If your organization just went through a leadership transition, here's an important question for incoming officers: Did the outgoing board complete the financial handoff?
It does not always happen automatically. Before summer gets away from you, confirm that each of these has been taken care of — and if not, get it done now:

• Online banking passwords changed
• Debit and credit cards canceled or reassigned
• Authorized signatories updated at the bank
• All financial records transferred to incoming leadership
• Email addresses updated on payment platforms (Venmo, PayPal, Square, etc.)

If any of these items were skipped, contact your outgoing officers now while they are still easy to reach. Waiting until fall can leave your organization exposed — and untangling account access months later is far harder than handling it in June.

Here's a fundraiser idea that gets families off the couch and into the community: a charity softball game!
Parents vs. Teachers. Staff vs. Alumni. Dads vs. Moms. The possibilities are endless — and so is the entertainment.
How to make it a fundraiser:
• Charge admission ($5–$10 per person)
• Add a concession stand with grilled food and cold drinks
• Design event T-shirts or jerseys to sell as a keepsake
This type of event is low-cost to organize and builds school spirit while filling your treasury. Win-win!

If your organization wants to raise money to purchase classroom supplies, new uniforms, or library books, a candy fundraiser is one of the most time-tested and effective options.
Fun fact: Candy sales account for nearly one-third of all product fundraising sales in the U.S. (Source: Easy Fundraising Ideas). It is the #1 selling fundraising product in many regions — and for good reason. Everyone loves chocolate.

• World's Finest Chocolate, Katydids, and similar programs typically return 40–50% profit to your group
• Students love selling (and eating) the product
• It's easy for parents to sell at workplaces and neighborhoods

This month, reach out to fundraising suppliers, lock in your fall dates, and get ready to crush your goals.
And when your events get rolling, make sure your organization is protected.https://aim-companies.com/event-insurance/

June is here, and school year activities are complete. Summer is the best time for your leadership team to get organized before the chaos of fall arrives.
Here's what your board should be working on this summer:
President: Review your bylaws, update officer contact info, and schedule a summer board meeting to plan the fall calendar
Treasurer: Reconcile this year's budget, file required financial reports, and review your insurance coverage — is it still adequate for next year's events?
Everyone: Start brainstorming fundraisers early so you can hit the ground running in August — the best ideas come when you're NOT in a panic! We'll be making suggestions for fall fundraisers all month.

Your PTA page. Your Booster Club Instagram.
These are great tools for communication — but they also carry real legal risk if the wrong thing is posted.
Did you know your parent group could face a claim for:
❌ A photo posted without a parent's permission
❌ A comment that's considered defamatory
❌ Content that infringes on someone's copyright
AIM offers Social Media Liability Coverage as part of your policy options — because in today's connected world, protecting your digital presence matters just as much as protecting your events.
