The 2026 CityLab Summit poster, created by CityLab and IDEA students, made its public debut this week at EarthX as part of the FIFA Student Art Exhibition.

Thanks to Meghna Tare, Chief Sustainability Officer for the Dallas 2026 FIFA World Cup (and a 2026 CityLab Summit panelist!), students were invited to attend and experience the event firsthand. They had the opportunity to see their work on display and attend sessions focused on environmental stewardship and the regional impact of the upcoming global tournament. Students also attended a fascinating session with renowned oceanographer Robert Ballard, best known for discovering the Titanic, the Bismarck, and the USS Yorktown.

Experiences like EarthX give students meaningful exposure to real-world issues and connect them with industry leaders, helping them explore future careers while deepening their understanding of sustainability and the challenges facing our city, region, and planet. Last week, CityLab students took part in tree plantings on campus and at Solar Prep for Boys as part of the Foundation’s upcoming Sustainability Summit. Students planted a variety of species including Mexican Plum, Eastern Redbud, Desert Willow, and Texas Persimmon, while learning why these trees were selected and how to care for them. They also explored the concept of urban heat islands and how trees can help reduce their impact.

Many thanks to One Earth One Chance for sponsoring this meaningful learning experience! Don’t forget to register for the CityLab Summit at: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/ev/reg/q3h8urj CityLab High School Dallas ISD One Earth One Chance
