And now for something different...

Mrs. Bonner wanted to surprise her husband with a new custom made metal sign to hang by the garage full of his favorite toys:) The idea was simple, yet classic: the words Muscle Car on top, Ranch on the bottom, and a large B in-between the two, which stood for their last name.

Since I don't get fun requests like this one often, I was in the mood to play a bit, so I asked what his very favorite car happens to be (a classic Mustang; something like the fastback model driven by Steve McQueen) and if I could design what I felt like having fun with, no strings attached. If they didn't like it, we'd go back to the original request:)

Today I got this photo with "Thanks agin - he LOVES it!"
..win, win and super nice people.

Now, let me tell you about his design. There is a full sheet in the back (for the background) and another full metal sheet in the font, out of which negative space is cut out, and of course the positive space is left behind. If you'll pull up the 1968 390 fastback in google images, you'll notice that the only way to draw the wheels is to do a whole bunch of shading, however, when it comes to positive and negative space, it doesn't quite work that way, you only get two "colors:" there and not there:) Holy smokes, it took me for ever to figure out how to handle these wheels so that bits and pieces wouldn't simply fall out of the design, LOL.

Nothing better than a note like this from the home owner via her lovely interior designer: "She says it’s better than she dreamed it could look!"

, a Dallas based interior designer and her client came to me with a contemporary dining room table base in mind, however, after looking at the design we decided that the home was very airy and elegant while the table base design a bit too bulky and industrial looking. I tweaked the design itself along with the material sizes and here's the final look. I think we hit it out of the ball park indeed:) Yet another gorgeous custom wrought iron piece on Lennox Ln!

How sweet is this. I designed a whole bunch of ironwork for this home in Waco, TX, but never got photos. Recently the high-end interior designer working on that home contacted me because she's working on another multi-million dollar home in Waco and wanted me to design and make gothic style lanterns for her clients and she gave me her photos:) Here is a taste... Thank you !

(Oh wow... it's really been a while since I posted anything to this page; time flies)

I am so in the clouds on acro-yoga right now! I have to show off what I just did for the first time ever!
Plus, because this is all about metalwork... some metalwork:)

If you're ever in Houston, book a night or two at the Marriott Marquis Hotel... I did the custom decorative screens for the presidential suites there:) Even did the finishes myself... it took quite a few coats of all sorts of metal flake etc...! Here is one of the designs Looney and Associates asked for.

The wrought iron organic trees are still in process:) 4 more in place!... can't wait to show you guys the finished piece!

There's a space between fine art and an object serving a utilitarian purpose; it's a place where pieces which carry an emotional sensibility are fused together with every day objects such as tables, chairs, sheds and light fixtures, a place dedicated to exploring the dynamics between natural and industrial elements... a place of creativity and awe.

Currently I am working on one of the most fantastic pieces in Dallas, Tx. I can't wait to show you this project when it's all done! It's going to be beyond gorgeous! Four more wrought iron tree sculptures and then the roof!

Imagine a simple piece of iron, textured into something which closely resembles a vine, which is then twisted until it becomes the very thing nature creates so freely on daily basis, yet this piece will not crumble into the ground, no, this piece will be here for generations to come.

The creation of such a piece is accomplished by heating long bars of metal, hand hammering the ends until they are forged out to a tip, then hammering in the texture. Depending on the length of the piece, it takes up to three blacksmiths to manipulate each "vine" so that it matches the design I created for them to follow.

Eight columns wrapped by vines, spreading out towards the top, reaching out to support the roof which will be put in place near the end. Suddenly, sculpture becomes function.

Humpty Dumpty got put back together again!

Just because something broke, does not mean that it can't be fixed:) The Cloisters and deeper/Lakewood area have some pretty impressive ironwork from the 30's etc... Take a look at how badly this White Rock Lake neighborhood in Dallas, Tx. drive gate was mangled by a falling tree. (https://youtu.be/przvyVPTVeo) Below is the after! A little (just kidding, a lot) of elbow grease and anything can be repaired!

Don't throw it away... Restore it:)
Give me a buzz... I'll be happy to help.

Dallas is freezing right now!
The stone work from the street to the home is frozen over.
Now imagine the guys carrying the railing from the truck to the house:)
I think it's good material for an old fashioned Disney toon!
Thankfully they made it safely and the first piece is in place!
