Building a transforming cabinet! I wanted to build this clever cabinet that transforms to save space. I partnered with on this piece and used their Color Series product in a Semi-Transparent finish to achieve a lighter bleached look. I used a tighter-grained Douglas fir for this design and I didn’t want the finish to be too warm toned and amber, so I used Minwax Color Series in Warm White to lighten it up, and make the grain pattern pop. I love Minwax oil-based stains, especially for larger projects, because they don’t dry as fast as water-based stains, giving me more time between application and wiping the stain off. Their Color-Series Stain also comes in 240+ tintable colors at Lowe’s. After staining, I protected it with a top coat of Minwax Wipe-On Poly
Progress update on the secret patterned plywood project.
If you know, you know. 😉
I couldn’t be happier with the result of this routed cavity and I’m super stoked that I was able to get the pattern to line up with both pieces.

From concept to final result! ✨ Sketching is the most important part of my creative process. It's where most of the details and problems get solved and it allows me to get all the ideas floating around my brain out onto paper.
Is sketching part of your guys' making process?
