What is this called?

I have never seen a stove like this one. Does anybody know anything about them? It is beautiful!

I need an opinion….we are in the home stretch of our whole home remodel (thank you Baby Jesus 😉) and this week our contractor showed the crown molding that was ordered and pointed out there will be a small gap all the way around and they will not touch the ceiling.

I am torn, and feel that this < 1” gap will look like a mistake, but if we go to the ceiling and the ceiling is not completely straight that the crown will call that out.

We have options:

1. Live with it
2. Contractor says he can put in a filler that would cover the gap
3. Make them get the right width of molding

I am leaning toward 3, but REALLY want to make #1 be ok. #2 is out in my opinion.

Thoughts? If you have this gap and would be willing to share photos, I would be so grateful!

Now I know that “riser” is the proper term, not filler. Also, there is going to be a pony wall along that side so a skin is not needed.

Thank you all for the input! I was set against option 2 but think this will be the way we go. Also, as many pointed out, how would I clean that gap? Loved all of the lighting pics, but we are already doing toe kick and under cabinet lighting so I think we will be lit up enough.

I have this adorable ceiling fan but I hate seeing the white light bulbs. What can I replace them with so they don't stick out like a sore thumb?

Whoever decided their roadside mailbox needed to be planted in enough cement to outlive a natural disaster… congratulations, you officially built a vehicle trap. 😭📬💀

At first glance, it looked like an ordinary mailbox sitting beside the road.

Just a regular post.

Nothing suspicious.

Nothing that suggested it was basically a concrete monument disguised as a mailbox.

So when I barely clipped it while swerving away from an oncoming car, I honestly thought the post would bend, break, or at least shift a little.

Absolutely not.

That thing stood there like it was part of a highway overpass.

The mailbox did not budge.

Not even slightly.

My vehicle, on the other hand?

Smashed fender.

Destroyed side mirror.

Deep scratches all down the door.

A repair bill that is going to make me sick.

All because someone apparently decided their mailbox needed to be stronger than the house it belongs to.

And yes, before anyone says it:

“You hit the mailbox.”

I understand that.

I’m not pretending I didn’t.

But my point is, why are some mailboxes built like roadside barricades?

A mailbox should not be able to defeat a full-size vehicle and walk away untouched. 😭

Now I have to deal with insurance, estimates, and the embarrassing explanation that a mailbox somehow beat my car in a crash.

So I’m genuinely asking…

When a mailbox is reinforced enough to cause serious damage, should the homeowner carry some responsibility?

Or is it always 100% the driver’s fault no matter how extreme the setup is?

I would love some suggestions on how to enhance my bathroom. I'd be willing to add wallpaper or paint, paint the ceiling, change the floor, paint the outside of the tub, or whatever suggestions you may have.

Most of our house is decorated in a country cottage vibe. How can I make this bathroom more romantic and cozy? But not too girly, because my man wouldn't go for that.

NOTE: mark on the floor is a water stain and the purple towel is my husband hanging whatever he finds, lol. Also, our yard is completely private, hence the lack of window coverings. 😁

Hey yall! Please help me make this blank entry way space feel warm, modern farmhouse chic .. I don’t even know how to describe my style… lol It’s by the front door in a big open concept area living room and it too small to fit plants beside, not sure about pics above it or mirror? I have posted here before with ideas for my bathroom and got some great suggestions. I am a young widow and live in the middle of nowhere so hard to find contractors. I’d like some DIY decore ideas to help make my laundry room special.

I am not a modern girly in the slightest so the more cozy and vintage the better. TIA.
