High school youth service trip to WARM 2026

We worked a lot, learned a lot, ate really well, saw a cool battleship, had fun on and off the beach, and most of all, grew as a group!

We are just one week away from kicking off the Whee Read Summer Literacy Program!

Rising 1st through 3rd graders are ready to dive into reading, and we want to make sure they have all the support they need.

We still have open spots for volunteers, and your time could make all the difference for a child this summer. Here is how you can help:

📖 Reading Buddies: Come read one-on-one with a student on Thursdays and Fridays from 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM. It’s just 30 minutes, and you can sign up for a single afternoon or multiple days!

🍳 Meal Support: Help us provide breakfast or lunch to keep our young readers fueled and ready to learn. More details can be found in the sign up link.

Whee Read will be here before we know it!

This summer, rising 1st through 3rd graders will be joining us to sharpen their reading skills, and we are looking for volunteers to support them.

There are two great ways you can get involved:

📖 Reading Buddies: Spend just 30 minutes reading one-on-one with a child! We need volunteers on Thursdays and Fridays from 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM. You can sign up for just one session or as many as you’d like.

🍳 Meal Support: Help fuel our young readers! We are looking for volunteers to provide and serve breakfast (7:30 AM – 8:00 AM) or lunch (11:30 AM – 12:00 PM) on select days. More details can be found in the sign up link.

Whether you can come once a week or every time, your time makes a massive impact on these students!

JOY kids end of school year picnic! It was a fun and beautiful day! 🧺☀️🛝

The youth also had their end of school year picnic. The photographer didn’t take many photos as she was beating everyone in ultimate frisbee, volleyball, and basketball 🧺🏐🏀😋

Congratulations to the 10 graduates of Cullowhee Kids preschool who graduated last night! Thank you to the teachers, staff, and parents for a great year! Look out Kindergarten, here they come! 🎓🌈💕
