“Overheated and Bound”
Blessings folk!
Neb was furious.
The three men had refused to worship Neb’s gods and his image.
Neb now prepared to throw them into a fiery furnace.
He ordered it heated to seven times the normal temperature.
Then…
Dan 3:20
And he ordered some of the mighty men of his army to bind
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
ESV
They were.
Dan 3:21
Then these men were bound in their cloaks,
their tunics,
their hats,
and their other garments,
and they were thrown into the burning fiery furnace.
ESV
Why the detail about clothing?
To reveal the anger of Neb.
All the clothing would be instantly consumable by the over-heated fire.
The fire was so hot…look at what it did…
Dan 3:22
Because the king’s order was urgent and the furnace overheated,
the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
ESV
The king’s order was so urgent…he was so mad…that normal safety procedures were apparently ignored…the fire was over heated…Neb’s men were consumed by the fire as they cast the men into it!
Dan 3:23
And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,
fell bound into the burning fiery furnace.
ESV
The men cast them into the fire…dying in the act.
They fell into the fire.
The fall could have caused great harm.
Still, there is a God in heaven…

“7X”
Blessings folk!
“Let it be known to you, O king, we will not serve your gods nor worship your golden idol.”
Such was the bold proclamation of the three Hebrews.
Wonder how ole Neb responded?
We have no need to wonder…
Dan 3:19
Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with fury,
and the expression of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was usually heated.
ESV
Neb had brought them before him initially in a furious rage.
Now he is “filled with fury”.
Neb’s countenance changed before them.
This tells us something.
He had been genuinely seeking to make certain they understood his requirement.
He wanted them to obey.
He was “on their side”.
Remember, they were very high officials in his kingdom.
But now?
He heard it with his own ears.
They would not serve his gods.
They would not worship his idol.
Now Neb is full of vengeful rage and anger.
He orders the furnace to be heated seven times from normal.
He would show them…
