RIVERS ASSEMBLY SPEAKER COMMISSIONS ULTRA-MODERN COMMUNITY SECONDARY SCHOOL IN ELIOZU, APPRECIATES PRESIDENT TINUBU AND THE FCT MINISTER

In an exceptional show of representation and project delivery to his constituents, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule on Friday commissioned a newly constructed ultra-modern Community Secondary School in Eliozu, one of the communities in his constituency; and described the project as part of his unwavering commitment to educational development in his constituency.

The newly commissioned facility comprises a six-classroom block, a library, staff offices, restrooms, for teachers and students, power generating set and other modern learning amenities designed to enhance teaching and learning in the school.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Rt. Hon. Amaewhule expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and also paid glowing tribute to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, whom he described as the political leader of Rivers State, for his unwavering support and dedication to grassroots development.

"I want to specially thank my leader, His Excellency Nyesom Wike. He worked tirelessly to ensure that we continue to reach out to our people through impactful projects that directly affect their lives," Amaewhule said.
He further appreciated the management and staff of the school for their cooperation throughout the construction period.

Rt. Hon. Amaewhule disclosed that the project was made possible after he personally acquired the two plots of land on which the school now stands, noting that the institution previously faced severe classroom shortage challenges. According to him, construction commenced in November 2025 and was completed within seven months.

The Speaker also announced the donation of a power generating set to the school and pledged to bear the cost of fueling and maintaining the generator throughout the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) period to ensure that students write their examinations in conducive classrooms

The Anambra State Government this morning arraigned eight alleged fake pastors before the court for violating the state’s 2025 Homeland Security Law.

IGALA RION TV reports that the prosecution is led by State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN.

The individuals arraigned include Peter Chukwu, Chinedu Egwuonwu, Bishop Emeka Nwankpa, Ebele Nnachukwu, Ekeleme Chris Ugochukwu, Ndubisi Nnachukwu, Miracle Iruoma, and Chukwukadibia Ogwuama.

The arraignment follows a crackdown launched last month by Governor Chukwuma Soludo against fraudulent religious operators within the state.

Soludo had accused the suspects of exploiting vulnerable citizens through the deceptive preaching of “salvation without the cross.”

Speaking at an event in Awka, Governor Soludo revealed that several of these individuals were already in state custody and had begun making useful confessions regarding their illicit operations.

He emphasized that the initiative is a critical component of his broader mission to build a “New Anambra” free from spiritual deception and the social vices that weaken the state’s moral fabric.
The governor challenged both religious and political leaders to embody the courage necessary for genuine societal transformation, insisting that both the church and the government must prioritize the “right path” for sustainable development over the pursuit of easy wealth.
