Word of mouth still matters. A lot.

That is how so many small businesses grow.

One recommendation turns into a phone call.
A phone call turns into a job.
A good job turns into another recommendation.

We’re grateful for every person who has helped keep that cycle going for Cold Start Construction.

If you hear someone talking about needing dirt work, grading, drainage, land clearing, driveway work, culverts, site prep, or other equipment work, send them our way.

We’ll take it from there.

And we’ll keep making you look good for recommending us. πŸ˜‚

Some jobs are bigger than a Saturday afternoon.

What starts as a quick weekend project can turn into hours of cutting, hauling, fighting thick brush, and dealing with ground conditions that are tougher than expected.

Land clearing, brush removal, debris cleanup, and dirt work often require more than time and effort. The right equipment, experience, and a clear plan can make the difference between getting the job done correctly and having to redo it later.

If a project on your property is starting to feel bigger than one free weekend, Cold Start Construction can handle the heavy work so you do not have to.

Happy Son and Daughter Day from our family at Cold Start Construction! β™₯

Today is Son and Daughter Day, and it felt like a good reminder of one of the reasons we work so hard at Cold Start Construction.

We’re a family-owned and operated business, and our goal is to build something strong enough to one day pass down to our children.

Whether our kids choose to carry Cold Start forward one day or use what they’ve learned from watching us build it to create something of their own, we hope they grow up understanding the value of hard work, integrity, and building something you can be proud of.

Celebrate your littles today. Take them for ice cream, spend a little extra time together, and enjoy the season you're in.

Drainage and erosion problems usually start small, but fall storms can make them much worse.

When water is not moving properly, rain can quickly turn weak areas into washed-out soil, deep ruts, standing water, and difficult access.

Early warning signs can include soil beginning to wash away, water collecting in low areas, ruts forming along driveways or access roads, overgrowth blocking drainage paths, or runoff moving across parts of the property where it should not be.

Addressing these problems before fall storms arrive can help protect access roads, prevent soil loss, and reduce the chance of a small issue becoming a larger repair.

Cold Start Construction helps property owners throughout Conroe and surrounding areas with drainage improvements, erosion control, grading, land clearing, culverts, and other machine-accessible site work.

Concerned about how your property will handle the next stretch of heavy rain? Send us a few photos and we can help you determine the best next step.

Driveway washouts are usually a drainage problem first.

Before heavy rain, fallen limbs, brush, and unmanaged debris can block drainage paths and force water toward driveways, access roads, and low areas.

When water cannot move where it is supposed to, it can lead to:

β€’ Standing water
β€’ Erosion
β€’ Washed-out gravel
β€’ Deep ruts
β€’ Difficult or unsafe access

Adding more gravel may temporarily improve the surface, but it will not solve the problem if runoff is still flowing across the driveway.

Clearing debris, opening drainage paths, and correcting the way water moves across the property can help prevent small problems from becoming expensive repairs.

Cold Start Construction helps property owners throughout Conroe and surrounding areas with drainage improvements, driveway repair, grading, land clearing, brush removal, and erosion control.

Not sure what is causing your driveway to wash out? Send us a few photos and we can help you determine the next step.

You do not have to tackle every property project before hurricane season. Knowing what to prioritize makes the biggest difference.

Before heavy storms arrive, focus first on the areas most likely to create flooding, erosion, or access problems.

That can include:

β€’ Loose debris and fallen limbs
β€’ Overgrown brush near drainage paths
β€’ Blocked or restricted water flow
β€’ Areas that could make roads or entrances difficult to use

Cosmetic clearing and non-critical areas can often wait until storm season passes. The main goal is to help water move properly, keep access roads passable, and prevent debris from becoming a bigger problem during severe weather.

Cold Start Construction helps property owners throughout Montgomery County prioritize land clearing, drainage, vegetation management, and dirt work based on what matters most.

Not sure what should be handled first? Send us a few photos and we can help you determine the best next step.

The best time to fix an erosion or drainage problem is before the next stretch of heavy rain.

Late summer is a good time to look at overgrown areas, washed-out soil, standing water, clogged drainage paths, and places where runoff is beginning to cause damage.

Taking care of those problems now can help prevent deeper ruts, worsening erosion, driveway damage, and harder cleanup after fall storms.

Cold Start Construction helps property owners throughout Conroe and Montgomery County with drainage improvements, erosion control, grading, land clearing, culverts, and other machine-accessible site work.

Not sure where the water is coming from or what is causing the erosion? Send us a few photos and we can help you determine the next step.

After heavy rain or a tropical storm, small drainage problems show up fast.

Standing water, driveway washouts, soft spots, clogged culverts, erosion, and water cutting across the wrong areas are all signs that the property may need some dirt work or drainage correction.

Sometimes the fix is as simple as cleaning out a ditch, reshaping a low area, adding material back where water washed it out, or correcting the grade so water has somewhere to go.

Other times, it may take a culvert, swale, driveway repair, or more involved site work.

Either way, it is usually better to look at it sooner rather than after the next hard rain makes it worse.

Cold Start Construction is veteran owned and operated out of Conroe. We handle drainage-related dirt work, grading, culverts, driveway repairs, washouts, site prep, and machine-accessible property work.

If the recent weather showed you a problem area on your property, send us a few pictures and we can take a look.

Overgrowth is not just a cosmetic issue.

Once brush, vines, limbs, and small trees start taking over, they can make it harder to access parts of your property, maintain fence lines, use trails, reach back acreage, or see drainage problems before they get worse.

In summer, growth can get out of hand fast. What looked manageable a few weeks ago can quickly become a problem area, especially around driveways, fence lines, ditches, gates, and equipment access paths.

Cold Start Construction helps clear overgrowth, improve access, open up usable areas, and make rural properties easier to maintain.

If brush is starting to block access or hide problem areas, we can help.

Extreme summer heat can take a toll on access roads and property infrastructure.

High temperatures dry out road surfaces, harden soil, and expose weak spots in access roads that may not be obvious during cooler months. Combined with traffic and occasional heavy rain, these conditions can lead to ruts, washouts, and reduced access across a property.

At Cold Start Construction, we help landowners maintain and improve access roads through professional dirt work, grading, and drainage solutions in Montgomery County, Texas. Addressing road maintenance early helps keep access reliable, reduces long-term damage, and makes properties easier to use throughout the hottest part of the year.

If extreme heat is starting to impact your access roads or make parts of your property harder to reach, Cold Start Construction can help assess the situation and take care of the problem the right way.
