Which dress should I wear to a more formal dinner at the Palo restaurant on our Disney cruise! I’m so torn in between these two handmade dresses and I need a little help 💕

Someone asked if I made my outfit and instead of pointing out every imperfection, I proudly said, “Yes, I did!” Handmade doesn’t have to mean perfect to be shown off.

Sewing is one of my favorite things in the world, which unfortunately means I also have to participate in all the extremely unfair parts of sewing like cutting out the pattern pieces, winding bobbins, changing thread, pressing seams, attaching BOTH sleeves, and cleaning up the tiny thread confetti afterward.

This is very much a joke. I absolutely love sewing, even the annoying little steps that come with turning a pile of fabric into a cute new outfit.

I’ve been sewing for 7 years and my handmade clothes still aren’t perfect. I still make sewing mistakes, get weird fits, and learn something new with every project. Your creative hobbies don’t have to be perfect to be worth doing. Learning to sew is about creating, experimenting, improving, and enjoying the process. Make the imperfect thing anyway.
