“Comps,” or comparable sales, refers to the homes in the area that are very similar in size, condition, and features to the home you are trying to buy or sell. Buyers can look at comps in the area when deciding what price to offer on a home, and sellers can use comps to figure out how to best price their home for the market.

While you don’t have to pay for an agent, there can be significant out of pocket costs when buying a home that you might want to consider saving for ahead of time. Make sure you talk with an agent to get an idea of what your costs might look like for a specific home.

A home inspection is something you don’t want to skip out on when buying a house. While your new home may check all your boxes, inspections look deeper than the surface to uncover potentially life-threatening problems like mold or faulty wiring that could cause you issues in the future.
