This week’s Throwback Thursday is all about animals💙

One thing is clear, our members, staff, interns, and volunteers love animals! We’ve helped our pet owners with vet visits, pet-sitting, dog walking, and getting out to see as many animals as possible at the zoo, parks, and farms.

As we all know, animals can be an amazing companion for all ages. As an older adult living alone, the benefits are invaluable. Having a pet and being around animals can help reduce stress, lower blood pressure, encourage movement, reduce loneliness, provide purpose, and slow the rate of cognitive decline.

These photos show just a small portion of the furry and non-furry animal friends we’ve met and interacted with over the years. ❤️ We are thankful for all the animals that help keep our members healthy and happy as they age.

This week’s Throwback Thursday is all about Students Who Showed Up 💙🎓 Such a variety of amazing people have helped make At Home by High what it is—and over the years, students have been an incredible part of our work.

From dedicated interns and work-study students through OSU’s The Ohio State University College of Social Work and John Glenn School of Public Affairs, to students who volunteered their time to help members with their yards, our community gardens, and so much more, their impact has been felt in countless ways.
We’ve also been fortunate to learn from students in Nursing, Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology, who shared their knowledge and skills to help our members learn more about technology, health, wellness, mobility, and healthy aging.
And through our partnership with GrowIN - Intergenerational Community Programming students (both college and high school) and older adults have come together for intergenerational activities that remind us just how much we can learn from one another. ❤️

These moments weren’t just about students helping older adults. They were about connection, learning, laughter, friendship, and community. Our members shared their wisdom and life experiences, while students brought fresh energy, skills, curiosity, and compassion.

As we look back, we’re incredibly grateful for every student who showed up, rolled up their sleeves, listened, learned, taught, laughed, and became part of At Home by High.

This week’s Throwback Thursday is full of selfies, usies, groufies and wefies! 📸❤️

Not everyone loves having their photo taken, but they humor me… sometimes. 😂 And honestly, I’m so grateful they do because these snapshots capture something much bigger than a picture—they capture friendship, laughter, connection and the everyday moments that make our community special.

Over the years, we’ve collected quite a few smiles, silly faces, adventures and “okay, just ONE picture!” moments. 😆

These are the memories I never want us to lose. Because at At Home by High, it has always been about more than services and programs. It’s about the people, the relationships and the moments we share.
