In Mark 4, we see the disciples in a boat on the Sea of Galilee. A great storm arose causing them to be overcome with fear, although many were experienced fisherman. Jesus was on the boat with them but He was asleep. The One who brought order out of darkness and chaos in Genesis 1 was resting. This chaos seen by the disciples was not out of Jesus' authority. The sea had been subject to His command from the beginning. They woke Him to question His care and concern for their plight. Jesus arose, rebuked the wind, and declared, "Peace! Be still!" A great calm came immediately. This wasn't an act of power. It was a revelation of identity. The Creator was present with creation. The waves that threatened the disciples responded to His voice - the same one they had always obeyed. This tells us God's presence doesn't exempt us from encountering storms. But it does remind us that storms don't exist outside of His rule. "What manner of man is this that the winds and seas obey Him?" If Jesus is present, fear doesn't have to be our response.

The presence of God will be here this morning as we gather to worship. He can calm the troubled waters of your life. Please join us as we anticipate the glory of His presence to fill the atmosphere. Family Bible Training begins at 10:00 and worship with the sound of the shofar.

Shavuot or the Feast of Pentecost concluded at sundown yesterday. Today is deemed "Pentecost Sunday" on the Christian Church calendar. It will be celebrated in churches around the world, especially the Charismatic or Pentecostal denominations. It's conception was never meant to be about an experience. It was a catalyst for mission and ultimately a fulfillment of covenant. God certainly had this in mind when He first introduced the feast to Israel with their initial encounter at Mt. Sinai in the wilderness. It was there that Moses received the Law that would set the eternal boundaries of covenant relationship. The fulfillment on "that Pentecost" in Acts 2 further revealed the plan of God for all humanity - both Jew and Gentile alike. Praise God for His loving kindness towards us!

Join us this morning as we open our hearts in the spirit of worship on the cusp of this Shavuot/Pentecost. We seek to honor God and His Word with our obedience as we gather this morning. Family Bible Training begins at 10:00 and worship with the sound of the shofar.

Shavuot or the Feast of Pentecost begins at sundown this evening. The first Shavuot was the giving of the Word to Moses at Mt. Sinai after Israel was delivered from Egypt. The fulfillment of Shavuot happened in Acts 2, birthing the Church, and bringing Gentiles into the new covenant. God sent the fire as a witness of His presence and to set the standard for His people. We are temples of the Holy Ghost with the truth, authority and power inside of us. We can burn with passion as we await the return of the Messiah. Shavuot reminds us God had us in mind from the beginning and will keep His Word in the waiting. Maranatha!
