Meet Zachary!

"I am a special education teacher with eight years of experience helping learners with disabilities close academic gaps and build confidence. My expertise is in elementary reading, writing, and math instruction, and I use evidence-based practices such as direct instruction, repeated practice, and frequent opportunities to respond to support learner success.

One of my favorite memories is seeing two learners I worked with grow from practicing basic decoding skills to successfully building strong reading comprehension skills. Watching that progress is what makes this work so rewarding.

I am passionate about helping struggling learners make meaningful progress and am excited to be part of this program. Supporting learners as they gain new skills and confidence is why I love tutoring."

🚨 ACTION ALERT: Protect Family Caregivers in HB 795 🚨

House Bill 795 is moving quickly, and your voice is needed!

The House Medicaid Committee will hear HB 795 on Monday, June 8 at 2 PM. Testimony is due 24 hours before the hearing.

HB 795 could impact family caregivers who provide essential support to people with developmental disabilities through Medicaid waiver services.

For many Ohio families, family caregivers are a critical part of the care network. They help people with developmental disabilities stay at home, live in their communities, work, attend school, and remain as independent as possible.

Ohio can protect Medicaid program integrity without destabilizing care for people with developmental disabilities and families.

Take action today:

Family caregivers are essential to Ohio’s developmental disability system, especially when families cannot find another available, qualified, and trusted provider.

🚨 ACTION ALERT: Protect Family Caregivers in HB 795 🚨

HB 795 could restrict or prohibit Medicaid waiver payment for family caregivers who provide personal care services to loved ones with developmental disabilities.

For many families, especially in rural and Appalachian communities, family caregivers are not a backup option, they are the only available, trusted provider.

Family caregivers help people with developmental disabilities live at home, stay connected to their communities, work, participate in daily life, and avoid more costly crisis or institutional care.

HB 795 is expected to be voted out of House Medicaid Committee on Tuesday, June 9, with a possible House floor vote as soon as Wednesday, June 10.

Contact your state legislators and urge them to remove or amend the family caregiver restriction in HB 795.

Critical disability programs in Ohio are at risk.

Proposed federal budget cuts could impact Disability Rights Ohio, The Ohio State University Nisonger Center, and the University of Cincinnati Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UC UCEDD), programs that help protect rights, support independence, and provide essential services for people with developmental disabilities.

Your voice matters. Contact your U.S. Representative today and urge them to fully fund disability programs and reject these proposed cuts.

“Learning Aid Ohio has made a meaningful difference in my daughter’s confidence and growth in math. With the support of her tutor, she’s been able to close learning gaps while building the confidence to solve problems on her own. What stands out most is how patient, encouraging, and engaging her tutor—celebrating every small win and making learning fun through math games and personalized support. Seeing my daughter go from feeling defeated by difficult problems to proudly explaining her answers has been incredible. The progress she’s made in both her skills and belief in herself has been truly life changing.” - Learning Aid Ohio Account Manager

Meet Donna!

As a mom and an intervention specialist specializing in dyslexia and learning needs, I understand that learning differences impact the whole family. It is often a journey filled with emotional and financial commitment, and I deeply respect the sacrifices families make to support their learner. It is an honor to be part of a grant that helps support families as they invest in their child’s success.

"I love hearing from families that their learner is willingly reading at home, pointing out signs around town, and building more confidence at school. Seeing that growth and excitement is what makes this work so meaningful."

I look forward to supporting your learner on their reading journey! I specialize in dyslexia and reading differences for learners with learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, anxiety, and other social and emotional needs. With experience as a mother, public school reading intervention specialist, and tutor, I work with learners of all ages and reading levels to help them grow with confidence.
