We are so grateful to Kennel Quilts and the Petfinder Foundation for providing us with small kennel quilts for our shelter pets! ❀️

These cozy quilts help make our kennels more comfortable for the animals in our care. Something as simple as a soft place to rest can make a world of difference for a pet waiting for their forever home.

Thank you for investing in the well-being of shelter pets and helping us make their stay a little brighter, warmer, and more comfortable. πŸΎπŸ’™

Did you know that most of our dogs are eligible for a Dog's Day Out? 🐾

Our Dog's Day Out program gives shelter dogs a chance to enjoy a day away from the shelter while helping them get noticed by potential adopters. Whether it's a walk through the park, a trip for a pup cup, or simply spending time together, these outings provide valuable enrichment and a much-needed break from kennel life. ❀️

As a Dog's Day Out participant, you'll help us learn more about a dog's personality, take photos, share your experience, and become part of their adoption journey. Sometimes, all it takes is one great day and a few photos for a dog to find their forever family.

The best part? We provide the supplies, and you provide the adventure. 🐢

If you've been looking for a way to help shelter pets but can't commit to fostering or adopting, this is a wonderful way to make a difference. You can give a dog their best day ever and help them get one step closer to home. πŸ’™

Stop by and ask about Dog's Day Out or fill out the application online and head to the shelter to pick out a dog!

We often hear two questions:

❓ Why is the shelter always full?
❓ Why doesn't Animal Services pick up every stray dog?

The answer is simple: animal overpopulation is a community issue, not a shelter issue.

Our officers prioritize calls involving public safety, injured animals, animals in distress, and situations requiring immediate intervention. In many cases, the best outcome is reuniting pets with their owners without bringing them into the shelter at all.

At the same time, our shelter continues to see the effects of years of unaltered pets, accidental litters, backyard breeding, and animals without proper identification.

Every day, we're working to be part of the solution through spay/neuter programs, affordable veterinary care, owner reunification efforts, outreach services, fostering, adoption, enrichment, and lifesaving care for the animals who need us most.

🐾 Spay and neuter your pets.
🐾 Microchip them & keep information updated.
🐾 Keep them safely contained.
🐾 Choose adoption.
🐾 Support responsible pet ownership.

Together, we can reduce intake, reduce suffering, and create a better future for animals in Columbus.

Our shelter dogs are in need of XL Kongs!

Did you know that every dog in our care receives enrichment activities daily? One of their absolute favorite enrichment treats is a stuffed Kong filled with yummy goodies like peanut butter, treats, and other dog-safe snacks, then frozen for a delicious and mentally stimulating reward. πŸΆπŸ’™

Not only do Kongs help keep our dogs busy, but they also reduce stress, encourage positive behaviors, and provide important mental enrichment while they're waiting for their forever homes.

Unfortunately, with so many dogs in our care, our supply of XL Kongs disappears quickly!

If you'd like to support our shelter pups, consider donating new or gently used XL Kongs.

When our shelter needed help the most, our rescue partners answered the call.

This week, more than 20 dogs from Paws Humane and Animal SOS packed their bags and headed north to begin their next chapter with four incredible rescue partners across three different states. ❀️

These transports aren't just road trips. They're lifesaving opportunities.

Every dog that leaves our shelter opens up space and resources for another animal in need. At a time when shelters across the South continue to face overwhelming intake numbers, these partnerships are more important than ever.

We're incredibly grateful to the rescue organizations that stepped up when we needed them most. Because of their commitment, more than 20 dogs now have access to new communities, new adopters, and new opportunities to find the loving homes they deserve.

This is what collaboration looks like.
This is what lifesaving looks like.
And this is exactly why partnerships matter. 🐾

To our rescue partners, transport teams, staff, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this happen, thank you. Because of you, more than 20 dogs are one step closer to their happily ever after.

🚨 Calling All Blanket Hoarders! 🚨

You know that extra stack of blankets you have at home? Well, our shelter pets would LOVE them. ❀️

We're currently in need of new or used blankets for our dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. Big blankets, little blankets, throw blankets, fleece blankets, we're not picky!

We strive to make our shelter pets as comfortable as possible in the shelter and with so many pets in our care, we go through them FAST.

So if you've got blankets taking up space, we know some animals that would be thrilled to put them good use. 🐾
