LEAD SAFE Columbus

Childhood lead poisoning remains a major preventable environmental health problem in the United States. Lead poisoning can affect virtually every body system.
Lead remains a problem within our community and the City of Columbus wants to work with the community raising awareness. The program continues to strive to create healthy and lead-safe housing while facing the daily challenges of an ever-changing social-economic population who is in dire need of our assistance. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over 310,000 US children were classified as “lead poisoned,” yet lead poisoning is entirely preventable. Because lead poisoning often occurs with no distinct symptoms, it frequently goes unrecognized.
