Message shares how God can to do amazing things in every area of your life! During the late 1890s, Message was originally called the Gospel Herald.

This premier religious paper uplifted readers with encouraging Bible topics, and keys to Christian living. In particular, it sought to restore and elevate that first generation of emancipated African Americans. At almost 120 years, Message is still uplifting and educating its readers. Message is available bi-monthly in print format and is also available in online, accessible to Android, iPhone and iPad users.

Depression affects over 322 million people worldwide. If you've ever felt it, you know it rarely looks the way people expect.

In 1 Kings 19, we find the prophet Elijah, fresh off one of the greatest victories of his ministry, running for his life, collapsing under a tree, and asking God to let him die. Fear. Failure. Fatigue. Sound familiar?

But God didn't rebuke Elijah for his depression. He fed him. Let him rest. Met him in the quiet. And then gently asked him a question that changed everything: "What are you doing here?"

This week, we're walking through what Elijah's story teaches us about fear, failure, fatigue, and finding rest, and what it means to let God care for us in our lowest moments.

Tell us: what's one thing that's helped YOU through a season of depression or burnout: rest, prayer, community, something else? Drop it in the comments. Your answer might be exactly what someone else needs to read today.

Truth deserves patience. Justice deserves integrity. Families deserve compassion.

The investigation into what happened to Nolan Xavier Wells remains open, and so do the questions. In our latest feature, Garry Graham and Garry Graham, II reflect on what it means to hold space for both accountability and faith while the full picture is still being written.

I was 25 years old on 9/11, a young mother who grabbed my son and drove to get my girls... no politics, no theology, just: get my children home.

Twenty-five years later, in "God of Every Nation at Ground Zero," I'm asking a harder question: when America says "never forget," whom are we remembering? Black firefighters and medical workers were in those towers. Caribbean families waited by phones for word from loved ones who'd crossed water to build a life here. Their stories are part of this story too.

"He was not present as the possession of one nation. He was the God of every nation at Ground Zero."

Is a 9/11 anniversary something to party through... or pray through?

That's the question one gym class raised for chaplain and 9/11 survivor Herma Percy, who was on Capitol Hill the morning the towers fell. Twenty-five years later, she's asking us to choose remembrance over noise, prayer over performance.

"That would be a legacy to party for. That would be a legacy worth leaving."

From our Message family, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, the families who still carry their absence, and the heroes who served with courage and compassion. Twenty-five years later, we remember their names, their stories, and the lives forever changed.

We remember. We honor. We will not forget. 💙

"God, where are you?" It's one of the most honest prayers we pray, when the job search stalls, when the diagnosis comes back bad, when the bills won't stop.

Dr. Noah Washington doesn't offer easy answers. He sits in the tension of a God who is everywhere, yet can feel so far away, and points to a truth that reframes the whole question: Scripture ties God's nearness not to our comfort, but to our brokenness. He draws closest when we're crushed, not when life is easy.

Let’s Talk About It:
1. When's a season where you asked "God, where are you?" and never got a clean answer?
2. Can you tell the difference between God's silence and God's absence?
3. What would it look like to believe God is closest to you in your hardest moment, not furthest away?
