RouteSmart Celebrates Landmark Headquarters Expansion in Columbia, MD with Federal, State, and Local Dignitaries - Waste Advantage Magazine RouteSmart – A FedEx Company, officially celebrated the expansion and renovation of its corporate headquarters on Sept. 2 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

On Wednesday, we cut the ribbon on our newly expanded corporate headquarters in Columbia, Maryland! ✂️🎉

This ribbon-cutting was a beautiful reminder of our history. Over 40 years ago, RouteSmart started from humble beginnings on Hickory Ridge Road. Today, our newly expanded, state-of-the-art office on Stanford Boulevard more than doubles our previous footprint—giving our team a collaborative, modern space to design the future of route planning.

We were honored to share the day with federal, state, and local leaders, as well as RouteSmart’s original co-founders —Dr. Michael Ball, Dr. Arjang Assad, and Dr. Bruce Golden—whose early vehicle routing mathematics first revolutionized the industry. Co-founder Larry Bodin couldn't attend.

To our amazing employees: thank you. Your hard work, creativity, and daily dedication built this company and will continue to carry us forward.

We've officially expanded our headquarters right here in Columbia, MD, adding 5,000 square feet of collaborative workspaces and brand-new training facilities to keep pace with our amazing, growing team. To make it official, we're celebrating with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week! ✂️✨

"We're busting at the seams. Until last week, we had four to five people sharing our conference room, and another three working out of our smaller conference room," our President, Larry Levy, shared with the Baltimore Business Journal last week.

While FedEx continues to integrate our technology across its global network to streamline operations, we're proud to remain a standalone business delivering intelligent routing solutions to organizations worldwide.

As Larry put it:
“FedEx could’ve acquired our team and decided to use it strictly as an internal service. They ultimately decided that they wanted to actually expand the use of our capabilities, not just in North America, but worldwide.”
