BLESSING OF PETS IN OUR PARISH!
¡BENDICIÓN DE MASCOTAS EN NUESTRA PARROQUIA!
Thanks to all who came bringing their pets: dogs, cats, bunnies, turtles, birds, chickens, parrots, iguanas and more!
WHY DOES THE CATHOLIC CHURCH BLESS ANIMALS?
The Church blesses animals not because there is a sacrament, but because they are part of God’s good creation and serve as companions and helpers to humanity and so we bless them with holy water.
📖 CCC 2416 teaches that animals are God’s creatures and that we owe them kindness. They glorify God simply by existing!
St. Francis of Assisi called all creatures his brothers and sisters, recognizing God’s goodness reflected in creation. That’s why we bless animals on St Francis feast day, October 4th.
Blessing animals means to invoke God’s blessing upon the help, companionship, and comfort they bring to human life.
