There is nothing quite like having our legendary fire department retirees back at the station for our annual breakfast. The fire service is unique in a way few professions can understand; it is a life lived shoulder-to-shoulder, built on trust, sacrifice, and shared experience. The people who came before us didn't just work here; they shaped the culture, carried the weight, and set the standard we still strive to meet. Seeing them walk through those bay doors reminds us that this job isn't just a career, it is a family that spans generations. Their stories, their laughter, and their presence keep our traditions alive and remind us why we serve. Grateful for everyone of them!

We had the privilege of participating in a second AHA Heartsaver Award this year ceremony prior to last night’s City Council meeting.
This incident demonstrated exactly how the Chain of Survival can work when a patient experiences cardiac arrest:
❤️ Early recognition, calling 911, and Clinton County Communications 911 dispatcher assisting with CPR and dispatching emergency responders
❤️ Early CPR, provided by the patient’s wife and a bystander
❤️ Rapid response from Clinton Police Department, with officers assisting with CPR
❤️Clinton Fire Department assuming patient care and providing advanced life support
We are thrilled to see such a successful outcome - and even more thrilled that our patient was able to attend last night’s ceremony and be part of the recognition.
This was truly a TEAM effort! A great job by everyone involved, and a great example of how each link in the Chain of Survival can make a difference!

We had a great time participating in Frontline Academy last week! Partnering with Clinton Police Department and Camanche Fire Department, we hosted two days of Frontline Academy at Central Fire Station.
Monday morning, we covered EMS and showed the Cadets all the equipment we carry on our ambulances and how each piece of equipment works. The afternoon session included topics such as CPR, Heimlich Maneuver, airway management, trauma management, and our Lifepak 35.
Tuesday, we covered firefighting. Cadets tried on turnout gear, SCBA, and got to experience what it's like being 110' in the air with Ladder 190. Cadets also got to experience hose line operations and water rescue operations in the afternoon.
A huge thank you to Clinton Police Department for asking us to assist with this year's Frontline Academy! We had a blast and enjoyed our time with the Cadets!

Like our post in December, today was another good day at CFD.
C-Shift personnel had the privilege of meeting a patient on whom they performed CPR back in April. This patient went into cardiac arrest at a residence and received immediate CPR from neighbors who were present. Neighbors promptly called 911 and began CPR. Clinton County Communications received the 911 call, assisted with verbal CPR instructions, and dispatched Clinton Police and Fire. A Clinton police officer arrived on scene and performed CPR prior to CFD units arriving.
CFD personnel from Station 2, Lt/Paramedic Ryan Winkler, Engineer/Paramedic Lance Muhlhausen, FF/Paramedic Dylan Moss, and FF/EMT-B Katie Grant, along with Battalion Chief Kurt VanDellen from Central Fire Station arrived on scene, assumed patient care, and provided Advanced Life Support. Patient was transported from the scene to Mercy One, where he was stabilized before being transferred for further treatment and care. Patient recovered and was discharged several days later.
Today, our personnel had the opportunity to meet with the patient and his wife, hear his story, and see firsthand the impact of their efforts. Reunions like these do not happen often, and they serve as a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.
This successful outcome is a testament to the entire Chain of Survival—from neighbors who recognized the emergency and immediately started CPR, to the outstanding work of Clinton County Communications, the Clinton Police Department, and CFD personnel who provided advanced life support and transport.
CFD is incredibly proud of everyone involved and grateful for the teamwork that helped save a life.
A job well done by all!
