Our Poet-Athletes have been showing up for their schools and communities in big ways!

⭐ Orchard STEM Core Boys Team cleaned up a garden space to help prepare it for new flowers. (slide 1)

⭐ Denison Core Team created a recycling awareness campaign complete with posters, a PSA video, and a student survey. (slide 2)

⭐ Whitney Young Core Team helped clean up the area around their school and designed posters encouraging others not to litter. (slide 3)

We love seeing our students turn teamwork and leadership into action throughout the community.

Congratulations to Steve Friedman, recipient of the Peter L. Galvin Award!

Named in honor of Cleveland SCORES founding board chair, Peter L. Galvin, this award recognizes individuals who share his dedication to the SCORES mission and commitment to serving our organization.

Steve is a partner in the Cleveland office of Squire Patton Boggs and a member of the Cleveland SCORES Advisory Board. A lifelong advocate for youth soccer, he co-founded Cleveland Metro Kicks F.C. in 1997 and served on the Cleveland SCORES Board of Directors from 2014 to 2023 before joining the Advisory Board.

A Community, College, and Career Coordinator with Cleveland Metropolitan School District and Cleveland SCORES writing coach, Madeline has spent more than a decade helping young people grow in confidence, find their voice, and pursue their goals. 🎤

Day one of camp is off to a great start!

Today was all about making new friends, having fun, and learning something new. Students spent the day playing soccer and hearing from Kortney Morrow and Quartez Harris on the importance of belonging and how storytelling through poetry can support it.

We wrapped up the day with games, giveaways, and a whole lot of smiles. 😊
