MCA's celebration of the interdisciplinary arts Bricolage is back this weekend Sept 18 -20 7:30p!
Meet one of our Bricolage pairings Amelia Casino & olula negre✨
- Amelia is a Cleveland artist. Her creative skills allowed her to look at the environmental subtleness in her work and cultural awareness that are in her own customs, while diversifying herself in the city.
The focus of the various textures is to demonstrate a story, persistence and dialogue within her artwork and what holds a particular dialogue that portrays through her style and technique. Along the cultural background of her Puerto Rican roots.
Her work is influenced through forms, various vibrant palettes that tells a story. The artwork she puts together is one that as time progresses and portrays her style as a mixed media artist.
- A grandchild of twin migrations fleeing the effects of US imperialism in the American South and Puerto Rico, experimental sound artist and activist, olula negre, is a cellist, improviser, composer, and visual artist whose work is rooted in their Black American and Latine heritage, queerness and their interests in speculative fiction/storytelling, folk music, labor movements, and
cosmic workings.
olula is a co-curator of AfriClassical Futures, a quarterly music and conversation series at Elastic Arts in Chicago that features Black diasporic musicians working in, around, or influenced by classical traditions.
olula is one half of ¡Bananaquit! an electro-acoustic duo with bassist Torstein Johansen

MCA's celebration of the interdisciplinary arts Bricolage is back next weekend Sept 18 -20 7:30p
Meet one of our Bricolage pairings Jaden Mills & Julian Otis ✨
- Jaden is a 2025 graduate from Berea-Midpark High School and The Academy at The Cleveland Institute of Music. He regularly plays with Suburban Symphony, The Cleveland Philharmonic, and subs with Mansfield Symphony. In his free time, Jaden likes to take long walks around his local lake, bake different sweet treats, and watch comedy movies. Jaden doesn’t have a set school for the 26-27 school year but regularly studies with faculty from The Cleveland Institute of Music, The Juilliard School, The Curtis Institute of Music, and Rice University. .millss
- Julian Terrell Otis is a vocalist dedicated to the advancement of Black music in America, spanning genres from creative music and jazz, to contemporary classical. His work explores the limitless possibilities of his instrument’s expressive capacity through song, improvisation, and theater. Known for bringing fresh perspective, nuance, and “high drama” to the contemporary music world, the integration of performance “live art” elements is of particular interest to him. Otis’s experiences have led him to create the male soloist role in George E. Lewis’ chamber opera, Afterword, on both domestic and international stages. In exploring the life and work of Julius Eastman, Otis has performed his solo work, Prelude for the Holy Presence of Joan of Arc. He revived Peter Maxwell Davies’ Eight Songs for a Mad King at the inaugural Bang on a Can All Star’s Loud Weekend, and is devising works focusing on improvisation, electronics, and movement. All the Pretty Flowers is his first recording project of improvised music and poetry. Committed to community empowerment, he led an improvised jam for South Side Chicago communities called Self Care = Resistance! And curates the AfriClassical Futures series at Elastic Arts in Chicago’s Logan Square/Avondale neighborhood.
