Here's a snippet of my curriculum from last month, which focused on securing shoulder locks from top position. This particular setup addresses an opponent using the infamous "home alone" defense and simply being content to survive. These can be irritating to deal with.
The key element here is to go from mount to a knee on neck knee on hip variant of side control in order to draw frames from the bottom player. As they set their frames, immediately remount them and use the former frame to isolate the arm. Try it out!

For anyone who doesn't know Sean is a high level catch wrestler who holds black belts in BJJ, Judo and Shingitai Jujitsu, was a member of Ken Shamrock's Lion's Den, fought in UFC 2 as one of the youngest UFC fighters ever, is a Pancrase vet.
He's an incredible instructor and person and will be undergoing spinal surgery this summer. This seminar is both an opportunity to learn from him and to help him with what will be a difficult time.
Police officers owe it to themselves to be competent grapplers. This video is the best proof of that I've seen in a while.

As a grappler, I've always had a love/hate relationship with kimuras from bottom half. At times, I've lost matches because I hyperfocused on them, but at the same time, I've had many highlight reel finishes using them. One way I've mitigated the potential drawbacks of using this as a strategy is by diversifying my approach, hunting both arms AND hunting for transitions off of it. Try it out!
