Loneliness. It’s something so many of us experience and so few of us want to admit to. Why? What do we think it says about us when feel lonely? We think loneliness is just for the elderly or the people living out on the fringes of society. The surveys and studies on loneliness tell us a very different story. Part of my work as a coach has always been to reflect back to my clients the strength and beauty in themselves that they can’t yet see. This happens most powerfully and quickly in my group facilitation work. In the group there is no hiding. In the group we get many new perspectives. In the group the more we learn about others the more we learn about ourselves. Love wins. Truth wins. Thank you to all the members of the Supreme Court who voted for the people of the LGBTQ community. Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., Justices Neil Gorsuch, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen G. Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, thank you for seeing and hearing ALL of us on this issue. If one group is oppressed we are all oppressed.

This victory is a reminder that conservatives AND liberals can find a way to make us a better country, TOGETHER. Let’s stop looking for opportunities to vilify and instead look for the opportunities to unify. Six members of our Supreme Court did just that. It’s behavior change 101 - let’s praise the people and behaviors (especially when they come from unexpected people) that we want to see more of and we will get more of what we praise them for.
