Coffee Day and National Coffee Day - Up until now, dates have varied widely across dozens or more countries. International Coffee Day replaces these prior events.
Today is International Coffee Day. This day celebrates one of the world's favorite hot beverages, which is enjoyed and celebrated around the world. Call it what you like: coffee, Java, cup of Joe, or any of dozens of names. Billions of people around the world drink billions of cups of coffee on a daily basis.
Can't wake up and be alert without your fist cup of coffee? You're not alone. It is estimated that 88.8 gallons of coffee is consumed annually per capita. This author suspect he consumes a whole lot more than average. How about you!?

It's National Good Neighbor Day. It's definitely a good thing. Being good neighbors is an important part of the social fiber that makes this country so great. Therefore, it seems only fitting that one day a year honors good neighbors.
This day of recognition is not to be confused with other forms of "Good Neighbor Days". Stores proclaim "Good Neighbor Days" to promote sales, a wide range of organizations announce "Good Neighbor Days" to promote their cause, and local municipalities and governments proclaim "Good Neighbor Days" for a variety of reasons.
Rather, this day is to truly recognize and appreciate your good neighbor. Hopefully, one of those good neighbors is you!

National Apple Dumpling Day is today. Be a member of the Apple Dumpling Gang. We are celebrating a tasty fall treat. Its easy to make (and, even easier to buy!). Apple lovers can't resist this pastry, filled with sweet, delicious apples.
With the arrival of fall and cool weather, two things happen: the apple harvest begins, and people turn indoors to cooking and baking again. It's only natural that apples are a big part of the cooking scene. Among the most popular of fall treats, is apple dumplings. For those of you who enjoy ice cream, some apple dumpling recipes include a scoop of ice cream atop a generous piece of Apple Dumpling.
Enjoy some Apple Dumpling today. Chances are, you haven't had it since last Fall!
Happy National Apple Dumpling Day!

It's Make Your Bed Day. Many of us seldom, rarely, or never make up our beds in the morning. If that's you, you're in good company. Okay, if company is coming over, mom makes you make your bed. Other than that, you arise each day and leave your sheets and bedding in a crumpled pile, pouring over the side, and onto the floor.
No one can claim that making the bed is a fun chore. Today is the day to arise and make your bed for a change. Speaking of change, as you celebrate Make Your Bed Day, it just might be a good idea to change the sheets first.
Here's a suggestion for those of you who faithfully make your bed every day of the year. Take a break. Rename today to be "Don't Make your Bed Day!"
Your mom will be so happy!

Women's Equality Day commemorates the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote..
In 1971, after much work, and at the urging of U.S. Representative Bella Abzug (D-NY), Congress designated August 26 each year as "Women's Equality Day.” This day was selected to commemorate the passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution on August 26, 1920. This amendment granted women the right to vote. This was the culmination of decades of effort by women suffragettes and other groups. Their efforts dated back to first women’s rights convention in 1848 at Seneca Falls, New York.
Celebrate this day in a number of ways. First, stop and celebrate the accomplishments made in gaining the right to vote, and towards equality for women. Women's rights groups suggest you continue to be involved in pursuing full and equal rights for women in all areas and in all issues.

We are so glad that someone declared today to be National Kool-Aid Day. It gives millions of us a chance to reminisce back to the days of our childhood, and remember just how much we enjoyed Kool-Aid on a hot summer day. It was our favorite sugary soft drink. For decades Kool-Aid was the summer drink of choice for kids of all ages. Never mind the fact that a pitcher of Kook-Aid contains a cup of sugar. Back then, kids burned off calories faster than they could consume it. But, let's not limit our thinking to days long past. Kool-Aid continues to be enjoyed by millions upon millions of today's kids, as they build their own future memories. There's plenty of "not so young" kids who frequently drink it as well, brining back fond memories of fun filled summer days.
While summer is the peak time to drink Kool-Aid, it is consumed 12 months of the year. Kool-Aid is great for everyday consumption, and is a whole lot cheaper than healthier choice juice boxes. It is also popular at birthday parties and all kinds of kids events. You can also enjoy Kool-Aid in freeze pops, cakes and other recipes.
Do you remember the 1960's cartoon Kool-Aid Kids"?
Kool-Aid was invented in 1927 by Edwin Perkins of Hastings, Nebraska. It was originally created in his mother's kitchen as a concentrate called "Fruit Smack". To reduce shipping costs, Perkins removed the water content and marketed it in powder form as "Kool-Aid". And, the rest is history. What's your favorite flavor? There were six original flavors: cherry, grape, lemon, orange, root beer and raspberry (Perkin's favorite). In the 1960s Kool-Aid packets sold for just one thin dime. Over the years, there has been dozens upon dozens of flavors. A sugar free version is also available. But, wait a minute. What good is Kool-Aid if you don't get a sugar high!?
Did You Know? Kool-Aid is the official soft drink of the state of Nebraska
Chances are, it's hot an muggy outside. Don't let National Kool-Aid Day go by, without having a drink or two of Kool-Aid under a shady tree. Make a pitcher for the kids, and have a tall glass yourself!
