Day of the Dead Community Ofrenda
DAY OF THE DEAD COMMUNITY OFRENDA Oct 19 - Nov 2

The FIG Foundation has partnered with the Comite Mexicano de Cleveland to create a community ofrenda in the lobby of the Pivot Center. This exhibit is made possible by MetroHealth. Created by artist James Negron, this interactive installation invites everyone to honor and remember loved ones who have passed.

Bring a photograph, small object, note, or other meaningful item to add to the ofrenda, or use one of the artist-created prompts to inspire your contribution. Together, these offerings will create a shared space for remembrance, connection, and reflection.

An ofrenda is a traditional altar created during Día de los Mu***os to honor the lives and memories of those who have passed. Rooted in Mexican cultural traditions, ofrendas celebrate life, family, memory, and the connection between generations.
Supported by MetroHealth and the Mexican Committee, the community ofrenda will be on view October 19–November 2, 2026, in the lobby of the Pivot Center.

La Fundación FIG se ha asociado con el Comité Mexicano para crear una ofrenda comunitaria en el vestíbulo del Pivot Center. Creada por el artista James Negron, esta instalación interactiva invita a todos a honrar y recordar a seres queridos que han fallecido.

Trae una fotografía, un pequeño objeto, una nota u otro elemento significativo para agregar a la ofrenda, o utiliza uno de los mensajes creados por los artistas para inspirar tu contribución. Juntos, estos elementos crearán un espacio compartido de recuerdo, conexión y reflexión.

Una ofrenda es un altar tradicional creado durante el Día de los Mu***os para honrar la vida y memoria de quienes han fallecido. Arraigadas en las tradiciones culturales mexicanas, las ofrendas celebran la vida, la familia, la memoria y la conexión entre generaciones.

Con el apoyo de MetroHealth y el Comité Mexicano, la ofrenda comunitaria estará disponible del 19 de octubre al 2 de noviembre de 2026, en el vestíbulo del Pivot Center.

The FIG Foundation's board is a fantastic collection of people who are committed to building equity in the arts community.

Jeannie Oakar is a Cleveland-based educator, community organizer, and creative facilitator with over 25 years of experience in the education field.

Gabrielle Burrage is a Cleveland-based arts administrator with a passion for building community-centered programs that bring people together through creative engagement and education.

Jason Kluk-Barany serves as External Affairs Associate at The Center for Community Solutions.

Rafa Hernández-Brito is a talented veteran podcaster for the Cleveland Cavaliers who brings boundless energy to every project.

PLANT YOUR IMPACT- opening DJ is T-Money!

DJ T-Money (Terry Young) is an artist who went through the creative residency! This residency focuses on professional development for artists who identify as having a disability.
It includes access to the studio, workshops, and one-on-one training in digital arts and/org silkscreen. Residents work with our inclusion specialist Lauren Mailey to create original work.

FIG is proud to be an All Means All space. Thanks to the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities the FIG Foundation is able to provide opportunities and programming for artists with disabilities.

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH- Oct. 3 12-4pm print LIVE at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with FIG!

FIG is excited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month with a design created by Reinaldo Cültüra De Jesus in honor of Latin talent and it's influence on rock and roll! Hispanic Heritage month runs Sept. 15 through Oct. 15th- how do you celebrate?

If you're interested in learning more about Hispanic and Latin culture, consider visiting the National Museum of the American Latino website! Hispanic Heritage Month is important because it provides an opportunity to celebrate the integral part the Hispanic/Latino community has had in growing and strengthening our democracy." Learn about FIG Foundation grant-funded programming! Our Anne Kibbe Residency gives women artists a fully funded opportunity to create and exhibit work while experimenting with print and digital art. We work with the Hispanic Senior Center to bring Expressions of Experience to life: a series of workshops culminating in an exhibition for the ladies with the Senior Center. Our Creative Residency word with the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities to create a hands-on residency experience for artists with disabilities. Come learn about our programming while enjoying drinks, raffles, and printmaking!
