We'll be discussing "Anti-Zionism", the brand new book by the Pulitzer-winning writer Benjamin Moser: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/770236/anti-zionism-by-benjamin-moser/

“Anti-Zionism” is a sweeping and revelatory history of the hidden tradition of Jewish thinkers who opposed Zionism. Through a cast of artists, rabbis, poets, lawyers, activists, journalists, and politicians—from Europe and Africa and Asia and Latin America—Moser traces a lineage of Jewish dissenters who confronted Zionism’s moral and political stakes—often at devastating personal cost, including censorship, exile, and death. Meeting the day after the election, we'll also use some of our time to debrief and consider the role of Israel and Zionism in the election results.

Join us Saturday, Oct. 17th to pray, learn, or just hangout -- you're welcome to come to whichever part(s) you want and/or to hang out in the community space!

During our afternoon learning we'll be learning about demons in the Talmud.

We are so excited that Miryam Coppersmith is coming in from Philly to teach us Yiddish dancing! Miryam will be teaching us Yiddish dancing during Sukkot and leading us in dancing on Simchat Torah!

Simchat Torah
📅 Saturday, Oct. 3rd
⏰ 7:00pm

On Simchat Torah we will unroll the entire Torah and create a circle of blessing (we need your help to do this!) in order to read the end of the Torah and then begin all over again. After we roll the Torah back up, we’ll have a Yiddish dance party with the Torah, led by Miryam Coppersmith!

Join us for an earth-based spiritual experience. We’ll attune to our bodies, the season, and the earth, through poetry, song, and foraging items for a nature altar. We’ll sing the prayer for rain and abundance, a special prayer said at the end of Sukkot on Shemini Atzeret, and close with blessings for peace, healing, and Mourner’s Kaddish.

We invite you to bring photos of ancestors (biological, chosen, spiritual, and/or political) that we will laminate and hang in the sukkah.
