My final litter for this year will be ready in August. Rex Martens, rex variegated, and standard coat- all dumbo!

What is “failure to thrive”?

FTT is a condition in which a rat, for some congenital reason, is not developing at the normal rate. They may be eating just fine and have full bellies, but their bodies are not absorbing nutrients. Eventually they waste away and pass.

My dwarf litter of 8 was reduced by 3 yesterday. I have never seen FTT in my lines, so although very sad it is fascinating. These pups were humanely euthanized to prevent any further suffering.

This is the reality of being a responsible breeder. Knowing when to end suffering and when to give more time.

Here is a comparison between the 3 FTT babies and their sibling from the same litter.

We have black, mink, and I believe Russian blue but it could be just blue :)

Sometimes my dwarf girls have complications during birth, so she is with Faucet in case a foster mom is needed.

The pups are beginning to show pigment! Already seeing some black DWS, which I love.
I counted 4 boys and 4 girls, but at this age, it can be challenging to tell. This may change as it becomes ✨more obvious✨

8 healthy pinkies from Faucet last night! Could hear their little squeaks as I was watching the new last of us episode… probably the litter theme!

All of these babies will be available for adoption once old enough!
