We have been proud to walk alongside North Avondale in this journey to a local historic designation. This neighborhood is filled with dedicated residents who love the character and charm of their community and are proactively seeking tools to make sure the beauty stays for generations to come.

Planning Commission approves North Avondale historic district Supporters say the designation will help preserve the character of North Avondale as new development ramps up. Critics worry it could make property repairs more expensive.

Back in March, we celebrated the announcement of a $240,000 preservation grant for First Baptist Church of Walnut Hills. Today, it is inspiring to see that investment taking shape as work on the church's roof officially begins.

The joy expressed by congregation members and neighbors is a powerful reminder of why preservation matters. Thank you to WKRC for highlighting this important project and the excitement it is bringing to the Walnut Hills community. Congratulations to First Baptist Church of Walnut Hills and all those who helped make this milestone possible. We are thrilled to see this beloved community landmark being preserved for future generations.

It’s time again for Terminology Tuesday! Each week, we’ll unpack a preservation term, explaining what it means and where to find it on historic properties. Today, let’s talk about 𝐩𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. A pediment is a triangular gable found above doors, windows, or porticos, commonly found in architectural styles with classical influences. The Greater Cincinnati region’s historic churches and public buildings frequently showcase pediments at entrances, such as this former Carnegie library in Covington, which features a large pediment above the entrance, above the frieze reading “PVBLIC LIBRARY.”
