Orange is the New Black 🧡🖤

We're doing a LOT in the way of wallcoverings in our projects lately and it's just so satisfying! Wallcoverings are so impactful that it's hard to even imagine until they're installed and all the other elements like lighting, mirror, window treatments and artwork are added. These vision boards are just a couple of examples we shared with a client last week for her sweet little powder room!

What do you see when you look at this stack of rugs? A thing of beauty, like I do? Or a stack of rugs that confuse and may cause you to make a design mistake that is expensive and frustrating?

For me, years ago before I knew myself better, gardening was my "big stack of expensive rugs". Every spring I would get so excited about all the options of beautiful plants, trees and bushes for my yard. In my mind's eye I could see all the gorgeous blooms and colors laid out so perfectly against my home's exterior. So each year I would run to the nursery to make my purchases and then—I would just freeze. There were too many options and frankly I had no real plan. What started out as exciting left me feeling defeated. Funny thing was that I inevitably repeated this same routine every year until I finally just stopped doing anything. That wasn't the answer either. The solution was to get free of the stress and get an expert involved who could help me invest my money in a beautiful custom plan just for me. Problem solved and money well spent!

The Rug Gallery

May your coffee be strong and your Monday be short!

For us, most everything revolves around coffee: morning coffee, trip to design center then a trip to a coffee shop to work and, of course, coffee to round out the day.

Mandy knows just about every coffee shop from Cincy to Dayton and across the river, so I'm pretty sure we have a coffee shop work tour in our future. Maybe we'll see you there with our laptops, room drawings and finish samples!

We "feel pretty, oh so pretty" when we imagine soaking in this tub while taking in the view of this warm vintage bathroom!

The brown/green color of this tub just called for a backdrop of complimentary wallpaper to finish it well! Do you sometimes see an unusual option and think "how would someone ever incorporate that?" We think that happens to folks often because it can be hard to imagine the possibilities.

Sweeter words were never spoken—especially these past two years when bringing many client's projects to completion has been darn near impossible due to pandemic and supply chain issues.

We had a great time creating this dining room with new furnishings, rug, rich, textural grass cloth and window treatments. Their new space is sophisticated and ready for a classy dinner party!

The beauty of a true classic look is that it has staying power because it just never gets old! Such is the case with black and white checkered tile, which is why we're excited to be incorporating it into a current project. For those who enjoy a more toned down version of the checkered look, gray and white looks lovely as well!

From the front of the house to the back, there are so many ways to incorporate this classic floor: entry, kitchen, hallway, mudroom, bathroom or laundry! Material options also run the gamut from porcelain, marble, vinyl to Marmoleum.

These bathroom selections began with this classic console sink and marble countertop. There's just something about the elegance of a console sink sitting so daintily on her pretty legs, don't you think?

TIP:
If you're considering a console sink, remember that the pipes are exposed so be sure to select a drain trap, fl**ge and water lines in the same finish as your faucet. This will fully finish the beauty of your console sink.

This client wasn't looking for a lot of design assistance — a couple of area rugs, carpet, lighting, counter stools and installation of their artwork were all they needed to "bring it home" if you will.

Well, we were more than happy to help! We used existing artwork and their love for a southwestern color palette to complete the look and make them feel right at home again.
