I had the opportunity to visit PG&E’s Vacaville Emergency Response Center (VERC) and Grid Control Center, and it was an incredibly informative experience. The VERC serves as PG&E’s central hub for coordinating emergency response during severe storms, wildfires, earthquakes, and other large-scale events. The Grid Control Center operates around the clock, monitoring and managing the electric transmission system to help ensure safe, reliable service and rapid response when emergencies occur.

As Executive Director of the Butte Environmental Council, I believe strong partnerships and collaboration are essential to building a more resilient community. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn more about PG&E’s emergency operations and the tremendous work that goes into protecting our communities and restoring essential services during critical events.

We look forward to continuing this partnership as we work together to strengthen emergency preparedness and review emergency response plans for Butte County. By sharing knowledge, improving communication, and planning together, we can help ensure our communities are better prepared for whatever challenges lie ahead.
