NAMI Butte County is having a fundraiser
"Summer Art Brea" Event at the Gridley Library on Sunday, July 19th from 2:00pm-4:00pm! The art project will be a Mandala Creativity Workshop. We are each going to make a wooden hot plate with a beautiful Mandala design on it. There will be teaching about the design too! The suggested donation is $20. We realize that it may be difficult for people to get there so we can carpool. When you register you can talk with Colleen.

LET'S SAVE SB 1016 NSSC CA! MAKE YOUR 30 SECOND CALL TODAY (or BY MONDAY @ 5PM)
SB 1016: Community Assistance, Recovery, and Empowerment (CARE) Court Program and court-ordered evaluations.
SB1016 faces its LAST committee vote on Tuesday.

The opposition knows we are getting SO CLOSE to this important law getting to the full legislature. They are in full force trying to stop this from happening and sadly spreading misinformation in the process.

Your calls have honestly never been so important.

If you could ---PLEASE call at least one or two members by next Monday 6/29. Each call will take 30 seconds. You can even call this weekend and leave a message on their voicemail. I just called every member and it took me 9 minutes!

IMPORTANT: If you live in the district of one of the members (see graphic below) be sure to reach out to their office, letting them know you are a constituent. YOUR voice is extra powerful.

Here is a suggested script. Please personalize with your personal story however you see fit:

“My name is [Name]. I am calling to urge the Assemblymember’s support for SB 1016 when it comes to the Health Committee on the 30th. CARE Court is a dead end for those who are too ill to participate voluntarily. This bill protects existing due process and confidentiality. Please vote YES on SB 1016."

If the bill survives it will go to the full Legislature for a vote later this summer. Thank you!

NAMI’S “PEER-TO-PEER” Education Course will be offered soon. To register or for more information contact Allison at [email protected]
This is a unique, experiential learning course for people with any serious mental illness who are interested in establishing and maintaining their wellness and recovery. Peer-to-Peer consists of eight two-hour classes and is taught by a team of two trained “Mentors” and a volunteer support person who are all personally experienced at living well with mental illness. This class is free.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Our monthly Family Support Group is moving from the first Tuesday of every month to the first Wednesday of every month.

NAMI is inviting you to a free luncheon where the focus will be on challenges facing agencies with the implementation of SB-43. A panel of local policymakers will be available to answer questions.
