I have been blessed to capture another CSIFF (Chicago Southland International Film Festival) Premiere Event. This event and capture was very special.

"Medaase (Thank You): A Ghana Public Health Brigade Story" is a documentary film filmed by Tiyen Simmons and Megan Smith that follows GovState (Governors State University) students, staff, and professors on a health and service brigade trip to Ghana. Students, staff, and professors traveled across the Atlantic Ocean to assist Ghanaian residents, particularly in the Ekumpoano region, in building biodigester units, enabling residents to access indoor toilets for the first time. Because of the lack of running water and sanitation knowledge in the region, GovState brigadiers, along with other health brigade participants, also taught Ekumpoano residents proper hygiene and health standards. The journey then became reflective as the health and service brigade visited historic Ghanaian landmarks integral to the African diaspora.

While one of the main goals of this festival was to raise money for the brigade's future service and learning opportunities, Medaase was a testimony on the impact that this health and service brigade has not just to the GovState community, but to the world.

Another CSIFF Student Showcase is in the books. Happy and privileged to capture the moments and events of this student showcase for Governors State University.

We have a lot of talented student filmmakers who, after rigorous planning, production, filming, and ex*****on, showcased their film works to the GovState and Southland Chicagoland communities. It takes a lot, but one thing is for sure: the work that our students perform doesn't go unnoticed. It only gets better from here.

From weddings to pastoral celebrations, baby showers, and prom send-offs, I've been blessed to capture these precious moments. Often, as photographers and videographers, we tend to capture these events and move on to the next venture. However, when we are called to capture, the calling becomes transformative. We strive to provide our clients with that moment in time.

Yes, we know nowadays, you can capture moments on your cellular phone, and AI is preserving these events by way of artificial intelligence, but the eye of the photographer/videographer is still strong enough to discern the level of the moment; to know that it's not just capturing but preserving the moment to remember.

The captures below, first and foremost, are an honor and a glory to God for the gifts HE has blessed me with, to capture these precious moments. Furthermore, these moments are visuals of what we can do for you.

We know and acknowledge that we aren't the only visual and media company in the surrounding communities. Still, we aim to serve and dedicate our time to creating stunning images that capture your precious memories.

Nearly a month in to the fall semester and we have been busy. DLMD, Digital Learning and Media Design, student production assistants, have been crushing it by participating and producing weekly studio productions such as TWAG (This Week At GovState), which also includes segments such as “Let’s Talk”, “Jaguar Playbook”, and a newly installed segment called “Jaguar Trivia”. This year, along with new faces, we also had our first “Let’s Talk” segment with Governors State University’s seventh president, Dr. Joyce Ester. All-in-all, more things to come but already a bright and wonderful start for the Fall Semester. Truly proud of the group of students we have here.

What a way to start March Madness with a huge Women’s Basketball Championship win as the Governors State University Jaguars beat the University of St. Francis (IL) Fighting Saints, 70-64. Women’s Basketball team finished an overall record of 26-5, leading 16-0 in home game wins.

Coach TMack not only celebrated a HUGE win with her team, but a birthday as well. Talk about a birthday gift. 👏 🙌 🎊

What made this experience memorable was the history being made on the court and the history of the students and staff who worked tirelessly to provide multi-cam coverage of this exciting event. This broadcast also included multiple court-side interviews with family, friends, and players from years past that made this a night to remember. The Governors State University community showed out by packing the ARC in their black-out attire.

Shoutout to the GovState University Women’s Basketball team, GovState Athletics, the student workers and staff of Digital Learning and Media Design, and the GovState community for showing out and showing support.

Honor and glory to God, as it was only my intention to share images of the production crew and the behind-the-scenes of this spectacular production, but to be in the presence of greatness, I had to “shoot in the gym” and capture the moments of this historic night.
